The Andros is beyond delighted to announce the `opening of “Homespun at The Andros” during June 2021.

After 6 spectacularly successful and multiple award winning years at “Homespun By Matt” in Blouberg, Chef Matt Schreuder is spreading his incredibly talented wings out of Blouberg and into the cut and thrust of Cape Town’s fine dining world.

The Andros is already rated as being amongst the top 25 luxury hotels in South Africa and Chef Matt’s opening will undoubtedly only serve to further enhance the already luxurious Andros experience.

Matt is unquestionably amongst the very finest and most talented chefs in Africa who spent almost a decade in the heady world of Michelin star restaurants throughout Europe prior to establishing “Homespun By Matt” in the seaside suburb of Blouberg where he grew up.

The fact that the Blouberg restaurant has been fully booked almost every single night for the past 6 years is an absolute testament to the quite extraordinary dining experience that the detail obsessed Matt and his team created.

“Homespun By Matt” in Blouberg will continue to trade with its incredibly professional existing team of chefs, sommeliers and service staff.

The team at “Homespun at the Andros” will include some of the finest chefs and culinary talents in South Africa.

Executive Head Chef Chris De Jongh has been a leading member of Matt’s legendary kitchen brigade at the Blouberg restaurant for an extensive period of time and, prior to joining Matt, he held chef’s positions at some of Cape Town’s absolute top restaurants including La Colombe and SYN at 47. Chris is widely regarded in the South African chefs fraternity as being amongst the most talented young chefs in the country.

Also joining Matt’s brigade as executive pastry chef is UK born chef Christopher Morresson, he has extensive work experience at several world renowned restaurants including Fat Duck and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay – Hospital Road.

With more than 20 years of experience in the finest of restaurants in the Cape, the front of house team and sommeliers will be led by the incredibly talented and experienced Michelle Michaels who was somewhat of an institution at the enormously successful Greenhouse restaurant at the Cellars Hohenort Hotel in Constantia for many years.

“Homespun at The Andros” will be solely owned and personally managed by Chef Matt who will be renting all of the kitchen, bar, restaurant and outdoor patio areas from the hotel.

Chef Matt and his entire team are currently refining the various menu options which will in all likelihood include a prix fixe tasting menu, a prix fixe menu including wine pairings and also a selection of al la carte specialities.
