Navegar en las aguas profundas y permanentes del delta del Okavango es, sin duda, una de las experiencias de safari más memorables que se pueden vivir. Subimos a nuestros barcos y navegamos por estrechos canales bordeados de juncos, donde la expectativa aumenta con cada momento que pasa. De repente, las vías fluviales se abren y revelan la majestuosa laguna de Xakanaxa, una de las lagunas más grandes e impresionantes de todo el delta del Okavango.

Hacia el norte, el paisaje se despliega en un esplendor silencioso. Los reflejos reflejados del papiro y las nubes bailan sobre la superficie del agua, salpicados por el suave chapoteo del barco y el ocasional canto de un águila pescadora africana. Los nenúfares flotan delicadamente a lo largo de nuestro camino, y las pequeñas islas bordeadas de palmeras parecen espejismos: suelen albergar lechwe rojos, elefantes que navegan, hipopótamos que se revuelcan en las aguas poco profundas y, de vez en cuando, cocodrilos que toman el sol en las orillas.

Ubicado a orillas del río Gomoti, en el extremo sur del delta del Okavango, este hotel está rodeado de un mosaico de hábitats, desde humedales estacionales y lagunas salpicadas de nenúfares hasta densos bosques ribereños y bosques abiertos, cada uno de los cuales es un refugio para una extraordinaria variedad de aves.
