Auob Country Lodge
Starting out as a commercial sheep farm in the old days, Auob Country Lodge today is part of an 8,000ha reserve that is home to various indigenous and exotic wildlife species. Over the years, old sheep farming fence structures had been removed to allow game roam freely on the reserve.
Without losing its original character and charm, the old farmhouse has been converted to accommodate our traditional kitchen, lounge area, bar, restaurant and reception. 25 additional rooms have been built around the old farmhouse and central pool, offering easy access to all lodge amenities. Although the rooms are fitted with mosquito nets, the Kalahari is malaria free.
Complementing the lodge facilities, Auob Country Lodge also offers spacious tree-covered camp sites on the banks of the Auob River within walking distance from the main building. Each campsite has its own fire place and electricity point and shares communal ablution facilities. Special arrangements have been made to introduce Springbok, Lechwe and Nyala antelope in a small breeding camp next to campsite and are open to viewing for both campers and lodging guests.
Water is obtained via boreholes from a sub-artesian aquifer and is clean and safe to drink.
The lodge can be reached by car (including sedan vehicles) and is roughly 4.5 hour’s drive from Windhoek.
