Located in the department of Escuintla on Guatemala's Pacific Ocean coast, Puerto San Jose is Guatemala’s favourite seaside resort and a short distance from Guatemala City. The best beach in the area is Chulamar, which offers some breathtaking sunsets and good swimming waters, and the Villas del Pacífico resort. The whole area is good for surfing. Puerto San Jose provides some excellent fishing opportunities, with record numbers of marlin and sailfish being raised, and the village of Iztapa, a few miles east, has some of the best sail-fishing in the world. Other highlights include the local ostrich farm, the water park at Aqua Magic, and some lovely restaurants along the coast.
