Upon arrival into Guatemala City you will clear Immigration and proceed to the baggage claim area to get your bags. Run the bags through the X-ray and them exit the arrival terminal, head to the LEFT where a representative from Casa Vieja will be standing by with a lodge sign to identify himself. Over the course of the next ninety minutes your comfortable van will pass by several active volcanos, coffee plantations and sugar cane fields & factories. The van will be stocked with water, soft drinks and beer.
When you arrive at Casa Vieja you will be greeted by our staff, bearing welcome drinks for all. Our manager will direct you each to your double occupancy room and let you know the basic lay of the land. Depending upon your international flight arrival time, you should still have a few hours to relax around the pool with snacks and cold drinks while dinner is being prepared.

On your flight into Guatemala you will receive an Guatemalan tourist Immigration/ Customs form. You should fill this in before arriving into Guatemala City. Fill it out, indicating that you are staying at Casa Vieja Lodge, Puerto San Jose, Escuintla. Have this available for the Immigration and customs folks in Guatemala City.
You will receive a 5:45am wake up from our coffee bearing staff member. Breakfast is served from 6:00am-6:45 and then it is into the van for the 5 minute jaunt to the Marina Pez Vela where your boat is docked. Your captain will plan to depart the dock at 7:00am for a full day of fishing. Your boat will be fully stocked with lunch (hot), drinks and all necessary tackle for a successful day of fishing. The boats will all plan to be back at the marina by 5pm at the latest. The lodge van will be at the marina to whisk you off to the lodge where you can relax in your room, or around the pool with cold drinks and appetizers while your four course dinner is being prepared. Again, dinner is at 7:00pm.

As you have fishing day under your belt by now, you will have a better feel today on the routines on the boat and how the captain sets out the lines and call the raises to his mates. Although most anglers will let the mates hook the fish on day 1, by now you should be feeling confident enough to hook your own fish. If you'd prefer to increase your raise to hook up ratio by letting the mates continue to do so, that is fine, they are more than happy to do it and trust me, they are definitely the pro's. Bottom line is to just make it clear what you'd like to do and the captain and crew will be sure to honor your requests.

As you likely would have already released a bunch of sails on conventional tackle, you might want to entertain trying to hook up a bill fish on the fly ! If you think this might be of interest, we can do it but the lodge/ boat must have ample advanced notice as the boat must be set up and stocked properly. Again, if you are comfortable where you are in terms of fishing style, that's great, but just know we will do whatever it is you want to do, it's your party !
After breakfast, you will pack up and be transferred back to Guatemala City and the airport for your scheduled international departure.
