Day 1: Windhoek

Today you arrive at Windhoek International Airport in Namibia where you clear immigration and customs and meet your guide in the arrivals hall.

You will then be assisted to your waiting vehicle and transferred to The Weinberg Windhoek for your overnight stay. This transfer is about 45 minutes.

Set around a beautiful heritage building that was once the estate house of a vineyard, the award-winning Weinberg is well-located in a quiet suburb close to central Windhoek. 

Part of the estate, the Weinberg is built around a charming courtyard complete with a fountain, lush foliage, and shady seating areas. Upscale and contemporary in style, the social spaces are full of rich textures and bold accents while the library lounge and Wine Lounge offer a choice of relaxing places to sit and enjoy a drink or two from an extensive wine list. There is also a luxurious spa with a pool and various treatments. 

The estate has five restaurants, a delicatessen to choose from, a gym with wonderful views, and the fabulous Sky Lounge for drinks and tapas overlooking the city and mountains.

Day 2: NamibRand Nature Reserve

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport, where you will meet your pilot for your hour-long flight to Geluk Airstrip.

On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by your guide from Sossusvlei Desert Lodge and a quick 20-minute drive has you at this beautiful lodge.

The lodge is situated within Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve, a vast 12,715 hectare (31,419 acre) expanse deep in the Namib, the world’s oldest living desert. Set amidst an ocean of dunes, rocky outcrops and gravel plains, the utter tranquility and extraordinary clarity of light makes this area one of Africa’s most compelling landscapes. 

Enjoy lunch on arrival before heading out on an afternoon activity. You return to camp for dinner.

Days 3 - 4: NamibRand Nature Reserve

One of the oldest, driest and most pristine areas on earth forming part of the Namib Sand Sea, the largest dune field south of the Sahara, the Namib Desert is home to the spectacular Sossusvlei dunes. Standing over 230 m (750 ft) tall, and shaped by the wind, these breathtaking dunes are amongst the highest in the world.

Venture into the desert along eco-sensitive trails on-foot, by bike or vehicle to explore the desert’s ecology uncovering specially adapted fauna and flora that have managed to make this harsh environment their home. Known as the Living Desert, the dunes of the Namib abound with wildlife, including the elusive Grant’s golden mole, and over 114 bird species.

Activities on offer include guided hikes, nature drives, quad biking adventures and even hot air balloon rides. The Namib Desert is full of sublime sights, and no trip would be complete without seeing the famous Sossusvlei salt pans glisten under the harsh sun.   

You enjoy two full days exploring the desert.

Day 5: Skeleton Coast

After breakfast you head back to the airstrip for your flight to Mowe Bay.  This is an incredible scenic flight, heading all along the coast. The flight time is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

On arrival at the airstrip your guide will meet you with snacks and drinks as the transfer to the lodge is about 2 hours.

Situated in the far north-west of Namibia, a short distance from the cold Atlantic Ocean, Skeleton Coast Lodge offers ultimate luxury while you explore the mysteries of this coastline.  The history of the Skeleton Coast is harsh and dramatic, and as you traverse these shores, you can imagine why the Portuguese sailors of old dubbed it “The Gates of Hell”. Over a thousand wrecks scatter the coastline, but only a few are visible to us, slowly breaking up or rusting away under the relentless assault of sea mists and saltwater over the years.

Stories abound of the wrecks and their crew and passengers being stranded on these unforgiving shores. From ships to diamond mines, this coastline has a dramatic and colourful history. The bones and carcasses of animals litter the shores, another testament to its unyielding nature.

The choice is yours his afternoon to partake in an activity or just relax at the lodge.

Day 6: Skeleton Coast

The wildlife in this uninhabited landscape flourishes despite the harsh conditions. You can hope to see lion, elephant, brown hyena, jackals, gemsbok, and any number of smaller game on excursions. 

Despite the haunting scenery, you’ll discover an area rich with wildlife from the black rhino, elephant, black-faced impala and Hartmann’s mountain zebra. The guides offer fascinating insights into the lives of these animals as they take you out and about.

During your time at Shipwreck Lodge, you can visit the seal colony at Möwe Bay, take a cruise on the Hoarusib River and see the natural geological formation of the Clay castles, home of the brown hyenas.  Game drives will take you through the Skeleton Coast National Park and why not visit a real shipwreck in the form of two vessels, the Suiderkus and Karimona.

After a day out exploring, you can relax with a sundowner on the viewing deck where you will see more of the wildlife who have adapted to live in Africa’s driest region.

Day 7: Hoanib River

This morning after breakfast, you depart the Skeleton Coast on a full-day transfer to Hoanib Valley Lodge. 

You will spend the day exploring the Hoanib and Hoarusib riverbeds: a spectacular trip and a unique opportunity to get to grips with yet more of Namibia’s most remote landscapes.  A picnic lunch is packed for you to take with you on the transfer.

You will arrive in the late afternoon at Hoanib Valley Camp and enjoy high tea and then some time to just relax and enjoy the lodge.

In a country jam-packed with vast, spectacularly beautiful landscapes, Kaokoland may just be the most incredible of them all. Deep in north-western Namibia, the area is a melee of towering mountains, sand dunes, and huge expanses of desert, scattered with unique wildlife and nomadic Himba settlements. It’s also one of Namibia’s most remote and wild environments, and one that not many will get the chance to discover in a lifetime.

Day 8: Hoanib River

Hoanib Valley Camp lies along the bank of the vast Obias River, an oasis of green dotted with the rare oryx within the hauntingly stark landscape of the Skeleton Coast.  

Hoanib Valley Camp is not only a superb spot for viewing wildlife, but you can also rub shoulders with the resident giraffe population. Get up close and personal to these majestic animals with a day in the field with the camp’s expert. 

Join your guides on game drives to track the desert-adapted wildlife, from rhino, elephant to lion; head out on nature walks; and learn about the fascinating culture of the nomadic Himba and Herero tribes.

Day 9: Ongava Private Game Reserve

This morning after breakfast, a two hour game drive will have you at the airstrip where you board your light aircraft and fly from Hoanib Valley Camp to Ongava Airstrip, a flight is 1.5 hours.

On arrival you are met and transferred to Andersson's at Ongava.

The camp takes its name from the Swedish explorer – Charles Andersson – who first stumbled upon the shimmering green and white Etosha Pan. Set in the Ongava Private Game Reserve, the family-orientated camp overlooks a waterhole frequented by plenty of thirsty wildlife, from lumbering rhinos and elephant to the diminutive Damara dik-dik. 

Enjoy a delicious lunch and some time to relax before high tea at the lodge.

You will the head out on your first game drive, and return to the camp for dinner.

Days 10 - 11: Ongava Private Game Reserve

Combined with the wildlife of the bordering Etosha National Park – Namibia’s premier wildlife destination – Ongava will have guests spoiled for choice of free-roaming game.

Your exploration of the Ongava Game Reserve is guided by our dedicated experts, ensuring each outing is enriched with insights and wildlife encounters. Embark on shared game drives - day and night, nature walks, or observe the wilderness from a unique perspective in the water level photographic hide.

Anderssons at Ongava is also home to the Ongava Research Centre, a dedicated hub of scientific excellence that is helping to expand humanity’s knowledge and understanding of the wildlife and ecology of the African bush.

You have two full days enjoying the activities on offer in Ongava.

Day 12: End of Itinerary

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your light air flight back to Windhoek, a one hour flight.
