Francisco is a direct descendant of the “Leitón” family, one of the first Costa Rican families to settle in Monteverde during the 1920s; thirty years before the arrival of the Quakers. Francisco was born and raised in the cloud forest and began his career as a naturalist guide at a very young age. With more than fifteen years of experience, Francisco makes all his knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area available to travelers and specializes in bird watching tours when he is not involved in the regular operation of the Hotel.
