Game Viewing
Fig Tree is open from May until November each year. It closes during the wet season as the camp inaccessible by road. From May till November the guides are able to get around the park and this is the period in which game drives are doable.
Fig Tree Camp offers game drives daily. One departs at sunrise and the afternoon drive (partly a night drive) leaves at approximately 2 hours before sunset. Drivers are 3.5 to 4 hours long. The game drives always begin right from camp and end back in camp. Game drives can be arranged directly in camp with the manager.
Walking safaris are available from June unit November when the camp closes. Grasses are still quite tall in May and certain areas still a bit muddy which makes walking unfavorable.
Walks leave in the early morning hours after sunrise to avoid the heat of the day. The walks begin right from camp and right from the get go, there's plenty to see along the banks of the Shishamba River. Our guides will talk you through everything Kafue has to offer that otherwise goes unnoticed, showing how the whole ecosystem works together to support the National Park. You can find nature at its most untouched on such safaris.
Dining Area
The dining area in Fig Tree Bush Camp is located in the main Boma. A big table that comfortably seats all 8 guests and the camp manager sits in the middle of the Boma affording guests a clear view of the Shishamba Lagoon and all its daily visitors.
Mornings begin with a light continental breakfast followed by scrambled eggs and toast. This is served before guests go out for their morning drive or walk.
Lunch is served midday after guests have had such much desired rest after their morning activity.
For dinner, a 3 course meal is served after the evening game drive.
All meals are taken in the Boma, and special bush meals can be arranged for special occasions only.

Liuwa Plains Mobile Safari Camp | Liuwa Plains National Park
Your base in Liuwa will be a private mobile camp set up exclusively for our group, in one of the designated camping areas within the park. These sites are usually tucked into patches of woodland, giving welcome shade, a good camp atmosphere, and plenty of birdlife around us even before we head out onto the open plains.
For 2027, the camp will be enhanced while keeping the genuine mobile safari feel that makes this way of travelling so well suited to Liuwa. Accommodation is in walk-in safari tents with proper beds, solar lighting and private en-suite facilities. It remains simple in the right way — close to the landscape, informal and authentic — but guests are very comfortable.
The camp has a relaxed, sociable feel. Meals are freshly prepared by the mobile safari team and served in camp, with improved menus and cool drinks adding an extra level of comfort to the experience. Evenings are spent around the fire or in the boma, talking through the day, listening to the night sounds and enjoying the sense of being properly out in Liuwa.
This is not a rough camping expedition. Everything important is taken care of by an experienced team who know how to run a camp in remote country, leaving guests free to enjoy the safari without worrying about the practicalities.
The mobile camp gives us the right base for this experience: comfortable, personal, well hosted and close to the heart of the park.

Kaingu Lodge | Central Kafue
Set in an area of pristine wilderness, KaingU Lodge offers a magnificent game and safari experience in the heart of the African bush. The lodge is environmentally-friendly, with the architecture of the entire camp and associated buildings designed to blend in and harmonise with the surroundings. Maximum use has been made of existing trees, rocky outcrops and topographical features in its layout and construction, thereby minimising the impact on the original look and feel of the area. The focal point of the lodge is the thatched central area with lounge, dining room and bar overlooking the river. Situated on a high plateau, KaingU enjoys an all-year-round moderate climate and is accessible in all seasons with good road and air access.
Perhaps the greatest feature of the lodge is the absolutely unique river landscape where the lodge is located. It is the only lodge on this unique stretch of river where the Kafue spreads out into a myriad of rocky channels and island before rejoining to flow into the lake. Game drives are usually done in the National Park (a ten minute boat ride away), while boating, canoeing, walks and even lounging in rock pools is also all on offer!

Primitive Walking Trails are guided multi-day journeys on foot through remote wilderness areas, usually with minimal infrastructure. They focus on deep immersion in nature—tracking wildlife, learning bush skills, and experiencing the landscape at a slow pace. These trails typically use lightweight camps or simple fly-camps rather than fixed lodges, making the experience stripped-back but rewarding.
