Khamkirri Lodge is located along the Orange River in the Northern Cape. There are various accommodation types including self-catering cabins, family units, tented camps, and camping sites. The cabins and family units feature a fully equipped kitchen, ensuite bathrooms, and braai facilities. The tented camps feature canvas tents on the riverside that are comfortably furnished and equipped with an ensuite bathroom, a kitchenette, and braai facilities. Guests can enjoy food at the onsite restaurant and a drink at the bar.

These one-roomed huts are right on the river bank. Secluded and shaded each hut has 4 single beds with bathroom (shower, toi;et and basin). Equipped with bar fridge, 2 plate stove?oven and basic kitchen utensils. Braai and grid.

These luxury tents are raised and on stilts with great river views. Tents contain double bed and sleeper couch and each have en suite bathroom with bath, toilet and basin. Also kettle and bar fridge.

!Xaus Lodge provides accommodation in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park for eco-tourists and visitors to the Kalahari. The complex comprises a central lodge building and 12 individual, en suite chalets, each with its own deck overlooking a vast saltpan and waterhole fed with fresh water. The central lodge building comprises a welcoming reception area, a cosy lounge with a fireplace and a lovely library. Visit the large observation deck from which we gaze in wonder at the night sky, and by day the swimming pool provides cool relief from the desert heat.

Wilderness walks Visiting the Local Craft School Game Drives Sundowners on the Dunes Night viewing and Stargazing Auob River Game Drive

During morning walks with the guides you will ‘read the newspaper’ of the night before –seeing the animal spoors, being taught about plants and desert life.The distance covered depends on the abilities and interest of the guests.

There are mid morning walks provided too, where you walk out on the salt pans and learn quite how far reaching and expansive these desert pans really are.

!Xaus Lodge is owned by the local ‡Khomani San and Mier communities. Guests are invited to meet the craftersat the school, and get an insight into the modern lives of thelocal Bushman community, as well as an opportunity to purchase crafts from the original artists.The school is set up to give elders an opportunity to pass on traditional skills to the younger generation who do not necessarily live a traditional lifestyle. Guests will thus experience the interaction between ancient traditions and modern lifestyles.

Afternoon or evening game drives are offered, allowing guests to see the dunes. While bird sightings are frequent and beautiful, other sightings are unpredictable and fascinating.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the treat of sundowners on the dune and watch - and hear! - the day set around them

Given !Xaus's seclusion from ambient light, its night sky is spectacular. Learn about the constellations with your naked eye, or view the Milky Way through our telescopes.

This river drive is freely available to guests who stay for four nights and can be discussed and arranged for guests who so desire, for an additional fee.

The Molopo Kalahari Lodge, named after the currently dry river the Molopo, is situated in the area known as the Green Kalahari, 200km north of Upington, 5km from the Botswana border and 60km from the world famous Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. A proverbial oasis in this Semi-desert region.
