Kuro Tarangire | Tarangire National Park
3 Jan 2021 - 5 Jan 2021
Kuro Tarangire is set amid a grove of Acacia and Kigelia trees close to the Tarangire River - often a dry, sandy course snaking through this quiet area of the park. The area sees the rhythmic movement of wildlife as it traverses the park from the hills in the west to the swamps on the eastern side.
Conscious of wanting to experience this place in a way that harmonises with the natural tempo, without overpowering it, Nomad have created a camp with a light footprint. That's not to say that it isn't comfortable though. Six light and stylish safari rooms are complete with comfortable beds, en-suite indoor and outdoor bucket and flushing loos. The family tent has two en-suite bedrooms and an adjoining corridor which is zipped up at night to make it safe for little ones to reach their parents should they need to. They rest amongst the trees with views over the African bush. You will gather to share meals and relax under the cool grass thatch of the open-sided lounge and dining area which is furnished with hides and canvas, brought to life with a touch of colourful and tactile textiles, all inspired by the Maasai.
Game drives, walking safaris and night drives are all on offer from Kuro Tarangire.

Game drives are a fantastic way to see Tarangire. This park is second only to the Serengeti in its concentration of wildlife and is well known for big herds of buffalo, elephant that stand picturesquely beneath the spreading branches of baobabs and prides of lazy lion sprawled in the shade of acacia scrub. The muted colours of Africa are frequently lit up by the bright reds and yellows of barbets, starlings and bee-eaters; there are over 550 species of birds here. Sometimes we'll take advantage of our freedom to venture out at night for this is when elusive creatures also choose to softly tread the trails. Few things are more exhilarating than catching a glimpse of the patterned flank of a leopard as it slinks through the grass beside our car.
You will wake in the cool of the early morning and walk straight out of camp to discover evidence of the night's activities along the course of the Tarangire River. There's something very special about placing one's own foot within the print of an elephant, or kneeling to cradle the nest of a praying mantis, glistening with dew. It's the sort of rare freedom that we seldom enjoy in our busy lives.
After dark the bush changes and you have a chance to meet some of our nocturnal neighbours. Genets, civets, porcupines and bush babies are often seen, and if you're lucky you might even catch the big chaps out on a hunt as lions and leopards head off on the prowl.
Entamanu Private | Ngorongoro Crater
5 Jan 2021 - 7 Jan 2021
A private highland retreat overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater. There is surely no truer way to appreciate the magnitude and wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater, than from Entamanu Private where it's done entirely on your own terms and schedules. A highland retreat designed to be entirely removable with minimal impact on this precious place, this is your exclusive Crater experience.
Three glass, wood and stretched-canvas rooms, two of which are two bedroom cottages made cosy with heaters, warm textiles and sheepskin look across the iconic Crater view, with a backdrop of ancient acacia trees. The style here is as unique as the location - everything carefully handcrafted locally to the highest standard.
There’s nothing tame about this location – the high altitude sun has some real heat and the wind can be biting and sometimes noisy. Nomad Tanzania have taken up the challenge to create a camp that makes the most of the extraordinary view while providing warmth and shelter from the elements, while being entirely removable. Every design detail has been considered in light of this, while still providing comfort in this elemental place.

A big highlight of any stay here, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's most iconic wildlife destinations. The beauty of Entamanu Private is that it sits within the Conservation area and only 30 minutes drive from the descent road into the Crater. An early start is highly recommended to enjoy the Crater before the majority of visitors make it in from other camps. You will set off with your guide and a packed breakfast and return to camp in time for lunch. Or, head out in the afternoon and enjoy sundowners on the rim on your way back to camp.
Entamanu Private offers guided walks along the rim of the Crater and in the surrounding highlands. You will head out with your guide and a member of the local Maasai community and learn all about medicinal plants, Maasai beliefs, as well as track any local wildlife that has wondered close to camp. Walks are all about soaking up the view at a slower pace and learning to appreciate the little things and they come highly recommended.
Sometimes we drop round to see our Maasai neighbours, who are living a largely traditional life in the boma in the next valley, and still grazing their cattle in the conservation area. It will be just us and them, and a warm welcome, with insights into the pastoral life, from building huts to warrior ceremonies.
Lamai Serengeti | Northern Serengeti
7 Jan 2021 - 11 Jan 2021
Lamai Serengeti sits tucked amongst the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, only a few miles from where the wildebeest cross the Mara River. For roughly a quarter of the year, between late July and October, this is where you'll find the migration. Right here, on our doorstep. For the rest of the year, it is wild Serengeti with all the resident game of the Masai Mara but without the people.
Each of the rooms is designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje and to make the most of this sensational location, its views and its natural space and light. The rooms are a blend of canvas, plaster and natural poles.

Explore the Northern Serengeti with our fabulous and very experienced guides. Game drives allow you to get closer to the big game and cover greater distances so that you can explore further afield in this beautiful part of the Serengeti.
**Game drives are on a shared basis unless a private guide and vehicle have been pre-booked. Max six in a vehicle.
Walking safaris are available at Lamai in certain seasons. At times of year when the grass can be a bit higher walking is sometimes not possible so it is important to bear this in mind (typically between January - March and June).
Walking in the bush is a fantastic experience and one of our favourite safari pastimes. It gives you the chance to really learn about the intricacies of the African bush; to taste, touch, smell and feel Africa. You don't get as up close and personal to the big game, but you do meet the little guys, all equally important in the grand scheme of things.
