Baines' Lodge, an A&K Sanctuary | Okavango Delta

Baines' Camp, named after the famed explorer and painter Thomas Baines, lies on the southern edge of the Okavango overlooking the perennial lagoon off the Boro River. Well shaded by huge Sausage, Jackal berry and Leadwood trees with excellent wildlife and panoramic views, Baines' is a small intimate camp of 5 luxurious and secluded suites on elevated platforms and linked by timber walkways. The décor of each room is simple yet richly textured, themed around a Thomas Baines painting. The accommodation facilities include a spacious full bathroom, personalized minibar, large wardrobe, safe, ceiling fan, a four-poster bed enclosed within soft mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom and private viewing decks. The innovative design of the self-contained four-poster bed on wheels allows guests to choose whether to sleep in doors or out. Another great touch are the star baths on the deck for a romantic bath under the stars after an afternoon of game-viewing.

There's a fully stocked wine cellar, relaxing lounge and intimate dining area. The open deck on the water's edge has a suspended fireplace and a rim flow swimming pool. Activities include day and night game drives in open land cruisers; walking safaris with skilled guides, mokoros for virtually all of the year (water levels permitting) or boat cruises throughout the year. The unique and educational elephant interaction is recommended as an optional extra. If you wish to do this, we strongly recommend that you pre-book this to ensure that it is available.

Baines Camp also has a Euro-chopper (very quiet helicopter) which can be pre-booked or booked in camp for game-viewing flights with special pivot seats in staggered formation to gain the best photographic opportunities.

Savute Safari Lodge | Savuti - Chobe National Park

Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient camelthorn trees on the shores of the Savute channel, the 'stolen river'. The lounge, library and cocktail bar are situated in the exquisite thatch and timber main building where an upstairs viewing deck is ideal for savouring Savute's enchanting sunsets. The twelve tastefully furnished en suite safari suites have spacious interiors, large glass sliding doors and private viewing decks to provide the best views of the plains. In the evening candlelit silver-service dining beckons guests in the elegant dining rooms.

4x4 game drives unveil the secrets of the African bush. Here wild dogs hunt in the channel where crocodiles swam only twenty years ago. The Gubatsa hills shelter leopard and klipspringer and ancient rock paintings of early man's wildlife sightings. Dry season game-viewing concentrates the resident bull elephants, antelope and lion prides around the pans and permanent waterholes. Black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, tsessebe, kudu, impala and ostrich abount. The summer rains bring a feast for lion, hyena and cheetah as thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest assemble in the marshes. Cape buffalo herds arrive and the resident 300 bird species are swelled by migrants. Carmine bee-eaters perch on the backs of kori bustards and redcrested korhaans plummet from the sky in daring aerobatic mating displays. At any time of year the Savute is a rewarding and enriching experience.

Victoria Falls River Lodge | Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Victoria Falls River Lodge is nestled amongst the trees on the peaceful banks of the mighty Zambezi River. This luxury lodge was the first private game lodge in the Zambezi National Park. And still sets the standard. It is the ideal place from which to explore Victoria Falls and the Zambezi Park at the same time.

It blends the African Safari experience with Victoria Falls. As it is so close that you can see the spray in the distance!  It offers the perfect combination of personal service, exceptional wildlife viewing, fine dining & luxurious accommodation. And so comes highly recommended. But with a price tag to match!

The Lodge's spacious, open plan design offers a cool sanctuary from the African sun. Positioned only meters from the river's edge, you can sit back & relax, enjoy a cocktail under the shade of the thatched roof or unwind with panoramic river views. Views that are only interrupted by occasional elephant strolling by. Or perhaps a wallowing hippo. Soft birdsong & the gentle munching of 'resident' warthogs keeping the lawns trim are the only sounds you hear.

The Victoria Falls River Lodge is perfectly located. Here you can have easy access to a vast array of adventure & adrenaline activities at the Falls on the one hand. But you can also enjoy safari activities in the park with game drives, game-viewing river cruises, birding, canoeing and walking safaris all on offer. After a day of excitement; you can relax, refresh & recharge in the river-side lounge. Or unwind alongside the pool with a favourite book.

Each massive tent has been tastefully decorated in earthy hues. And each offers a larger than king size bed, freestanding bath with a view, comfortable sitting area, indoor & outdoor shower. Outside there's a private viewing deck with your private plunge pool. And this certainly beckons invitingly under the heat of the African sun. Standard in all suites are mosquito nets, mini bar, electronic safe, fan, air-contioning and international adaptors.

Family Tents offers an additional tented childrens bedroom. This has a single and a bunk bed. So three children can sleep comfortably. And it allows their parents a bit more privacy.

Or opt for the newest: the five ultra-luxurious Island treehouse suites on their own private island.
