Canoeing, Water-Based Activities and Walking Safaris

Canoeing is an optional adventure activity that takes place in a natural wilderness environment inhabited by wild animals, including hippopotamuses and crocodiles. Although every reasonable precaution is taken by the activity provider and its professional guides, wild animals are unpredictable and encounters may occur without warning. It is not possible to eliminate all risks associated with canoeing or other water-based wildlife activities.

Canoeing activities are operated and controlled by the lodge, camp or specialist activity provider concerned and not directly by Ntanda Safaris Ltd. Participation is entirely voluntary and is subject to the activity provider’s safety briefing, operating conditions and indemnity requirements.

By choosing to participate, guests acknowledge and voluntarily accept the inherent risks associated with canoeing, including capsizing, collision, injury, contact with wildlife, immersion in water, illness, loss of personal property and, in exceptional circumstances, serious injury or death.

Guests must follow all instructions given by the professional guide and must immediately disclose any medical condition, mobility restriction, inability to swim or other circumstance that may affect their safe participation.

Guests who do not feel comfortable participating in a canoeing activity should advise Ntanda Safaris or the lodge, and partake in alternative activities such as a game drive, boat cruise or walking safari may be arranged, subject to availability and the lodge’s activity programme.

Ntanda Safaris acts as a booking and itinerary-arranging agent for independently operated accommodation and activity providers. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ntanda Safaris cannot accept responsibility for acts, omissions, accidents or incidents arising during an activity operated and controlled by an independent service provider, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
