Wilderness Safaris is proud to be at the forefront of Rwandan ecotourism, and privileged to present the only luxury wilderness offering in East Africa combining mountain gorillas and savannah safaris. Here, Magashi offers a savannah and wetland experience comparable to the best in East Africa, its thrilling wildlife tableau unfolding against a backdrop of exquisite natural beauty, where plentiful game is followed by predators of every stripe. Birding is, in a word, extraordinary, with some 500 species (including numerous East African specials) to be seen. Nestled on the scenic shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga in the park’s north-east, the camp itself may be compared to the country’s traditional Kitenge fabric, its serenely elegant setting woven through with vibrant Rwandan culture. Our aim is to build sustainable conservation economies in Africa, and we are honoured to be able to use our model of ecotourism to contribute to the conservation and restoration of the tiny, yet exceptional Akagera National Park.
