Ethandweni – Place of Love Established in 1995, Ethandweni Children’s Home is a community-based, non-profit orphanage located in the heart of the Matobo District. . Our mission is to provide full-time care, rehabilitation, and support to orphaned, vulnerable, abandoned, neglected, and abused children. Our home serves as a sanctuary for these children, offering them stability, love, and a chance to heal, grow, and thrive despite their challenging circumstances. Ethandweni currently houses approximately 42 children of varying ages, mainly from the greater Matobo District. The home is well-organized, and the children find solace and care within its walls. Imagine a place where they can truly feel at home, surrounded by caregivers who genuinely care about their well-being. Visitors are warmly welcomed by the friendly management and the caring “Mamas.” It’s a place where you can witness resilience, hope, and the power of community support. Besides providing shelter and care, Ethandweni Children’s Home also engages in sustainable practices. We sell our own homegrown vegetables, lemons, and eggs, contributing to our self-sufficiency. It’s heartening to know that this orphanage is making a positive impact on the lives of many children, giving them a chance for a brighter future.
