Lectures & Briefings

A Coral Princess cruise is so much more than a leisure cruise. Throughout your holiday our expert Expedition Staff will ensure you gain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the locations discovered.

On Great Barrier Reef cruises our qualified Marine Biologist will ensure you gain a full appreciation of the ‘Reef’, rainforest and tropical islands of this World Heritage-listed environment. Join Glass Bottom Boat tours and learn about the many different varieties of corals, take part in guided snorkelling tours and enjoy island and rainforest walks. Back on board, join the Marine Biologist at the interactive touch tank and take part in a fish feed on the snorkel platform at the stern of the ship. A fully qualified Dive Instructor is also on hand to prepare SCUBA diving programmes for novice and certified divers alike.

During your expedition to the Kimberley, Cape York & Arnhem Land or further afield throughout the South Pacific or South-East Asia, you will be accompanied by two expert Guest Lecturers. Carefully selected for their convivial personalities and specifically chosen for their unmatched knowledge of the history, cultures and landscapes unique to your cruise, your Guest Lecturers will ensure that you take away a greater understanding of the region and its people. In addition to providing expert commentary during our excursions, our Guest Lecturers also invite you to attend their interesting onboard presentations and briefings.

Excursion Boats

Coral Princess II travels with two inflatable zodiacs (used for SCUBA diving excursions) along with a glass bottom boat. The glass bottom boat is used for coral viewing excursions and is also used for transfers to the shore. The ship’s unique hydraulic platform makes boarding of the zodiacs and glass bottom boat a breeze. Simply step aboard from the ship’s main deck before gently lowering into the water, so no need to clamber aboard or get your feet wet.

Shore Excursions & Activities

A Coral Princess cruise is not about just passing through a region and seeing it from the ship’s deck. Instead, each day you will travel ashore and fully immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes, fascinating history and colourful cultures of these remarkable locations.

Whether you’re coming face to face with vibrantly coloured fish as you snorkel over a reef, chatting with the villagers in a remote and rarely-visited community of the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea or admiring the ancient Bradshaw (Gwion) Paintings of the Kimberley region, you really will feel like you’re not just seeing these remarkable regions but truly experiencing them.

Our small ships are equipped with a fleet of excursion tenders to make travelling ashore as simple and comfortable as possible. Designed with flexibility and guest comfort in mind, our inflatable zodiacs, glass bottom boats and unique excursion tender ‘Xplorer’ ensure that even the least intrepid adventurer can explore ashore with ease. Our excursion boats board directly from the ship’s main deck, before the hydraulic platform gently lowers into the water, avoiding the need to clamber aboard or get your feet wet.

During your adventure or expedition cruise you will have the opportunity to participate in at least two included shore excursions or activities (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) most days, along with onboard lectures and presentations. The vast majority of excursions are included in your cruise price and in key locations you will have the opportunity to enhance your experience through participation in optional activities such as a helicopter flight over the Kimberley’s spectacular four-tiered Mitchell Falls.

On Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea and Melanesia expeditions you will enjoy ample opportunity to snorkel and SCUBA dive over the South Pacific’s most colourful and pristine coral reefs. Our snorkelling and SCUBA diving departments are fully stocked with a wide range of snorkels, fins and masks (to fit all sizes) along with all the necessary equipment to allow you try the unforgettable experience that is SCUBA diving. Snorkelling equipment will be assigned to all guests at the commencement of each cruise.
