Whipps Wilderness Safaris – Fully Catered Hiking Experiences in Namibia

Whipps Wilderness Safaris invites travellers to experience Namibia at walking pace: following ancient paths, dry riverbeds, open plains and remote wilderness routes that cannot be appreciated fully from a vehicle.

Our fully guided, fully catered, slack-packing hikes are created for travellers who enjoy being active while still appreciating comfort and good hospitality at the end of the day. Hikers carry only a light daypack with water, snacks and personal essentials, while the WWS support team transports luggage between camps, prepares the mobile camp and ensures that every detail is in place before guests arrive.

Each evening is spent in a carefully selected wilderness setting. Spacious Sahara A-frame tents are equipped with beds, mattresses, duvets, linen, bedside tables and solar lights, while camps include hot bush showers, eco-friendly toilets, hand-wash stations, a communal dining area and a welcoming fire circle. After a day on the trail, guests can enjoy a refreshing foot spa, relax with a drink and share stories over a hearty fireside dinner beneath Namibia’s wide, star-filled skies.

Meals are an important part of the experience. Days begin with tea, coffee and rusks before an early start, followed by a generous brunch served along the route, afternoon snacks and wholesome dinners at camp. Drinking water is supplied throughout the hike, and dietary requirements can be accommodated when advised in advance. A support vehicle remains nearby, offering water resupplies and the option for guests to rest from walking for part of a day when needed.
