Baobab Hill House

Baobab Hill House Activity

Scenic game drives
to various points of interest in the concession (including but not limited to Lanner Gorge, the
Limpopo Flood Plain, the Fever Tree Forest, the Nyala Berry Forest, seasonal wetlands and Mang ala).

Bush walks
the best way to experience the forests, floodplains, gorges and kopjes between the two rivers is on foot. Walking this remote and pristine landscape allows a more intimate experience and is the ideal option for bird watchers looking for specials like Pel’s Fishing Owl as well others seeking solitude and wilderness in one of Africa’s great landscapes in an unrivalled walking destination. We offer a walking activity from April to October each year (Pafuri Walking Safaris) to allow nature lovers to celebrate a rarely explor ed place that is as vast and varied as it is wild.

Guests staying at Pafuri Tented Camp can pre arrange to swop out a morning game drive for a bush
walk to explore the concession on foot.

Immersion in early human history: a visit to the Royal Citadel of Thulamela. Thulamela arose in the 13th century, and stood for about five centuries on a rugged hilltop overlooking the Luvuvhu. It was
part of the highly sophisticated Great Zimbabwe culture, that mined,
crafted and traded with the world via the Swahili Coast.

Community visit
an outing to our partners the Makuleke villages is a unique experience allowing you to learn about the Makulekes’ past and current way of life. The visit includes a traditional meal and a memorable performance by a cultural group.

Magic moments – Experience the beauty bush dinners along the Luvuvhu River, and or bush breakfast amongst the giant Nyala Berry trees or a boma evening filled with storytelling by the Makuleke people. Full-day excursions with a picnic lunch, that allow you to venture further afield, pre-arranged with the reservation office.
