Recommendations & Tips
Check-in: International - 3 hours prior to departure Domestic - 1 hour prior to departure
Taxes:
Most airport taxes are pre-paid. However, some countries still require travellers to pay arrival/departure tax locally. Some hotels charge a resort fee which is payable locally on check-in. These fees are subject to change at any time without notice. I will do my best to inform you of these fees at the time of quoting but as these can be introduced at any time, I may not always be able to.
Baggage:
Refer to your E-ticket for checked baggage allowances. Alternatively, refer to the airline's website for full information.
Reconfirmation Before departure:
I will advise you of any changes
After departure:
Airlines don't require you to reconfirm your flights. Should I be notified by the airline by of any changes I will contact you straight away. Always reconfirm your transfers and tours with the land operator. If language is an issue, I recommend you ask the receptionist at the hotel to reconfirm on your behalf.
Special requests:
Advise me if you have any special requests such as –
Meals
Wheelchair
Seating
Bedding
Special requests are never guaranteed by any supplier (hotels or airlines)
Frequent flyer number:
I will advise the airline of your membership number. However, always ask at check-in whether your number has been registered. Also, after you've travelled check your statement to see if points have been allocated.
Medication:
If you are unable to carry enough medication for your entire trip, make sure you take a letter from your doctor detailing the medication, dosage, and what it's for. A letter from your doctor explaining that your drugs are medically prescribed and are for personal use can also ease your way through customs checkpoints. Pack all medication in your carry-on luggage. This is to avoid unnecessary stress of searching for a doctor or pharmacist if your luggage gets lost. Some medication is illegal in some countries.
Namibia, a country of astonishing contrasts, is aptly named after the Namib – the oldest desert on the planet, forming a sea of red sand along the Atlantic coastline. Located in south-western Africa, Namibia is celebrated for its impressive list of breath taking natural wonders – vast open landscapes, infinite supply of blue skies, sun-drenched weather and star-filled nights.
Over the years, there have been a number of cultural influences that have all added to the unique atmosphere of Namibia. At various times Germany, Great Britain and South Africa have all governed the territory, however, it was with the eventual independence of Namibia in 1990 that the country was able to develop its multicultural character and reinvent itself. There is a distinctive Namibian character that freely blends African styles with European influences reflected in the architecture, culture, customs, cuisine and art.
All this is in interesting juxtaposition with the expansive landscapes that surround the cities. The many national parks and game reserves boast a huge variety of wildlife in a kaleidoscope of differing environments: the impressive Fish River Canyon; the white saltpans of vast Etosha National Park teeming with abundant wildlife such as lions, desert-adapted elephants and the Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra; the red dunes at Sossusvlei; the Namib Desert stretching for over 2 000 kilometres along the magnificent Atlantic Coast, and the isolated wilderness of the Kunene Region. Namibia is an ideal destination for travellers seeking an unforgettable African experience in a uniquely striking untamed wilderness. Astonishing contrasts are everywhere for the visitor to savour, enjoy and photograph.
