Price Excludes

Airfare to Costa Rica; airport departure tax ($29 USD); travel insurance; gratuities; any lodging, tours or meals not specified in the itinerary; extras in hotels (laundry, phone calls, room service, etc.); personal equipment; costs associated with changes to your itinerary for reasons beyond our control.

Please note:

-   All persons entering Costa Rica must have a passport valid for 6 months past the date of entry.

-   Baggage limit per person for flights within Costa Rica: 40 lbs (18 kg); charter flights: 25 lbs (12 kg).

-   Any changes or cancellations made to these services while in Costa Rica are at the traveler's expense.

-   No refunds will be given for unused services as per our terms and conditions.

-   Travelers are encouraged to take out travel insurance.

NEW CANCELLATION AND POSTPONEMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS
FOR THE 2020 COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The pandemic caused by the Coronavirus has plunged the world into uncertain economic times. While we must remember that this period will pass and the economic activity of the world will return, it is certainly unsettling as we live through it.

Due to increasing concerns and questions from our clients, we have amended our Terms & Conditions and our Cancellation Policy for the immediate future. We retain the right to amend these new Terms at any time, and we will send out notifications of any such changes.
 

COSTA RICA SUN TOURS / COSTA RICA AVENTURAS DEL SOL S.A.
TERMS & CONDITIONS – effective April 21, 2020

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTATION: All travelers must carry a valid passport from their country of citizenship. It is the responsibility of the traveler to obtain all necessary passports, visas and tourist cards required for travel.  Cancellation fees will apply for any cancellations due to incorrect documentation.

INSURANCE: Trip cancellation and/or interruption, baggage, and medical/accident insurance is highly recommended. Costa Rica Sun Tours will not be held responsible for any costs associated with cancellations within the cancellation policy time periods established herein, for any baggage loss or damage, or for any medical expenses incurred for accidents or other reason.

RESPONSIBILITY: Costa Rica Sun Tours (Costa Rica Aventuras del Sol S.A.) acts solely as agents for the suppliers who provide transportation, hotels, vehicles, equipment or other services arranged for clients. The suppliers are independent contractors. Costa Rica Sun Tours is not responsible for the willful or negligent acts and/or omissions of such suppliers or any carrier or their respective employees, agents, servants or representatives. All vouchers, receipts and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions specified by the suppliers and/or carriers. By utilizing the travel services of the suppliers, the client agrees that neither Costa Rica Sun Tours nor any representative or employee of Costa Rica Sun Tours shall be liable for any loss to the client or those traveling with him/her. Nor shall Costa Rica Sun Tours be liable for any event beyond its control. Costa Rica Sun Tours will not be responsible for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in air schedules or other causes.

For bookings confirmed and secured with a deposit before March 18, 2020 with travel dates up to December 31, 2020

Voluntary Postponement – our preference!


Postponement of travel may be requested up to 30 days before scheduled date of travel. We ask that postponement requests be held off until at least 60 days before the date of travel in order to give everyone the maximum chance of assessing the travel situation.
Increases in costs due to seasonal price differences, third party rate changes or any new government taxes will apply. We are negotiating with our suppliers to maintain 2020 rates for 2021. However, we guarantee to hold any increases from 2020 to 2021 to a maximum of a 5%.

Cancellations:
All cancellations and refund requests must be received in writing by Costa Rica Sun Tours.
 
I)  If the Costa Rican borders and airports are open and there is no official travel ban or advisory from the clients’ home country for travel to Costa Rica, then the following cancellation fees apply in addition to any third-party supplier charges for cancellation:

Any changes or cancellations made after departure will be at the client’s expense.

II)  If the Costa Rican borders and airports are closed, or it there is an official travel ban or advisory from the client’s home country, then the preferred way to deal with it is a postponement of travel in which case the client will receive full credit of any amount already paid to be applied to their new (postponed) travel date (see Voluntary Postponement above).
For clients who wish to cancel under these conditions, we must deal with each booking on a case by case basis. These clients can expect only a partial refund as Costa Rica Sun Tours must collect any bank fees or credit card merchant fees and any pre-payments made to third-party suppliers which we are not able to recover.

Any changes or cancellations made after departure will be at the client’s expense.

New Zero Risk / Zero Hassle Booking Policy
Deposit, Cancellation & Postponement Terms for New Bookings

For all new bookings made after May 1, 2020 with travel dates up until December 21, 2021, we have implemented a Zero Risk / Zero Hassle booking policy. Clients can start planning and booking their future trips without the worries of non-refundable deposits. We retain the right to alter these new terms and conditions at any time but will honor this policy for any bookings already confirmed under these terms.

Zero Risk / Zero Hassle Policy - Payments and Fees: We have temporarily waived the requirement of a deposit at the time of booking. At 60 days prior to departure we will check in and confirm that clients still plan to travel. At 45 days prior to departure full payment is due. If full payment is not received, then all reservations will be cancelled.

Even in these uncertain times certain suppliers may require a deposit to secure land arrangements or prepayment 60 days prior to travel. We will discourage working with these suppliers, however if the client insists on booking these suppliers then we will provide the suppliers terms and conditions and require prepayments accordingly. Costa Rica Sun Tours shall not be liable for or have any obligation to the client to return a non-refundable deposit in the event of cancellation of the client’s trip.
