Hacienda Guachipelin is located at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, in the northwestern region of Guanacaste. The hacienda borders the popular Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls and volcanic clay pots are just some of the many attractions that tourists can enjoy during their stay at the hacienda.
Hacienda Guachipelin is truly an ecotourism lodge for adventure travelers and nature lovers. Property is surrounded by lush gardens with native trees, exotic flowers, and many species of birds. You Will have the chance to get views of both the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano and the Pacific Ocean. The property is comprised of 1,600 hectares of land, most of which are reserved.

Centrally-located in our activities hub at Hacienda Guachipelin, stay in close proximity to our main reception area, restaurant, and pool in one of our Standard Rooms. These plentiful rooms meet and exceed all of the basics for comfort and quality for the whole family. Choose the type of bed configuration you need, from two double beds to two singles and a double.
The Standard Rooms complex borders a large green space where you can relax and enjoy the many bird species nesting and feeding in the tree tops. Each Standard Room is connected by a shared covered terrace and walk-way that takes you directly to the restaurant and activities center. These rooms are great for large groups who want to stay near to one another to make daily activity planning and organization a breeze.
Our superior rooms are set in a horseshoe-shaped formation around the property’s ancient and majestic Tempisque and Cedro Amargo trees. Each room walks out to a shared covered terrace that faces a large, open green space that is ideal for bird watching and photo opportunities.
Each Superior Room comes with two double beds or one queen-sized bed and an additional single bed can be included upon request. Superior Rooms are a more spacious version of the Standard Rooms with more of a luxury room feel. Warm wood finishes and local art reflect the heritage Guanacaste traditions that inspire our business model.
The crown jewels of accommodations at Hacienda Guachipelin are our two premier suites: El Cenízaro and El Cedro. Named after two of the most iconic giant tree types found in this region of Guanacaste, the Cedar and the Ash, these two private suites are equally as grand and majestic as their namesakes.
Each suite enjoys a spacious open-plan living area that is decorated with handcrafted Costa Rican furniture and art that depicts traditional Guanacaste ranch life. The suites come with a large terrace where you can take in the incredible view of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano framed by our lovely tropical gardens.

This one-of-a-kind Costa Rica zip line tour at Hacienda Guachipelin as you fly through the trees on zip lines, rappel, rock climb, swing like Tarzan, and cross hanging bridges over a narrow river canyon. It’s an incredible adrenaline rush! Your playground is the spectacular White River Canyon, formed by water erosion over millions of years.
Your excitement begins a short walk from Hacienda Guachipelin’s Adventure Center to the first zip line platform. Have exhilarating fun on seven zip line cables, one hanging bridge, two Tarzan swings, a controlled 20-meter (65-foot) rappel, natural rock climbing wall, and via ferrata traverses and climbs. The tour generally takes between 90 minutes and two hours to complete.
Enjoy non-stop fun and excitement bouncing and splashing down five km (three miles) of Class II and III rapids along this narrow, rushing river of crystal clear water. There are plenty of quiet pools along the way to appreciate the beautiful tropical scenery of the Rio Negro (Black River). Our special, individual river tube rafts are designed with handles and protective bottoms. Guides go with you and ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the duration of your experience.
Part of your river tubing adventure includes riding our trusty Costa Rican ranch horses from Hacienda Guachipelin along scenic trails through the forest to get to the river.

Are you up for the challenge on this extreme adventure tour in Rincon de la Vieja in Guanacaste, Costa Rica? Feel your adrenaline pump as you participate in these exciting rappels in majestic waterfalls, ending with a cool dip in the pool for a refreshing swim.
After the first rappel, rock climb assisted by the wall of rock next to the waterfall to go back down on rappel. Then you can make another rappel in a second location and a Tarzan pendulum into the water of the waterfall.

Beautiful and relaxing, the volcanic hot springs at Hacienda Guachipelin bubble up on the Rio Negro, naturally heated by the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano — the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Surrounded by a dense dry tropical forest, the Rio Negro Hot Springs area is beautiful and peaceful. The crystal clear waters of the river flow near the 10 pools built on the riverbank, filled with thermal waters rich in minerals, naturally heated in the depths of the volcano. You can access the pools on both banks of the river thanks to two suspension bridges.
For a rejuvenating treatment on your body, you can use the hot volcanic mud, which works just like a spa body masque. When the mud dries, you can wash it in the cold waters of the river before entering the thermal water pools again.
We have dressing rooms, bathrooms, and lockers at the entrance of the hot springs. From there, you walk 350 meters along a beautiful path in the woods until you reach the thermal springs.

We offer you farm-to-table homemade meals, producing on our ranch much of the food that we serve in our Hacienda Restaurant. What we don’t grow or raise ourselves, we source fresh from sustainable local vendors.
No artificial ingredients, MSG, canned foods or boxed juices are found in our kitchen. We make everything fresh, including using only fresh herbs and spices from our garden. We offer many possibilities for persons with dietary restrictions: gluten-free, non-dairy, vegetarian and vegan – we have many options.

For groups and families, we recommend the 2-Br Beach Apartments, which are two Luxury Suites, one above the other and sharing the building access (no connecting door). That means each Beach Apartment has 2 living rooms, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Their maximum capacity is 8 guests.
The first level living room has a pull-out sofa bed, mini-fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven, wet bar, breakfast table and a large ceiling fan. The second level living room has a sofa (roll away bed available), large fridge, coffee maker, microwave oven, wet bar, breakfast area and a large ceiling fan.
Each bedroom in Olas Verdes has a queen size bed and a twin bed, closet, desk, safe box, large ceiling fan and air conditioning. The bathrooms have solar heated water. Total combined area is about 1000 sq. feet.
Luxury Suites are comfortable and spacious. The suites on the first and second floors are slightly different in their living room’s layout but share the same square footage. The bedroom configuration is the same in all Luxury Suites and features a queen-size bed and a twin bed, a closet, desk, safe box, large ceiling fan and air conditioning. All bathrooms have solar-heated water. The Suite’s total area is 500 sq. ft.
The living rooms in the first-floor Luxury Suites include a sofa-bed, mini-fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven, wet bar, breakfast table, a large ceiling fan and a small terrace. Their maximum capacity is 4 guests.
The living rooms in the second-floor Luxury Suites feature a sofa (roll away bed available upon request), a large fridge, coffee maker, microwave oven, wet bar, breakfast counter, and a large ceiling fan. Their maximum capacity is 4 guests.
Poolside Suites are great for solo travelers or couples with one child. Located above the reception and restaurant areas, they feature a living room with a sofa bed, mini-fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven, breakfast table, and a bedroom with a queen-size bed, closet, safe box, and air conditioning.
For extra comfort, both rooms in the suite have large ceiling fans. The maximum capacity is 3 guests, with a total area of 400 sq. feet.
