Welcome to The Guardians of Baja: A Special Departure

We invite you to join us on a special departure filled with some of our favorite Baja adventures (hiking, birding, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming with sea lions, checking out sea turtles and more!) but with a special focus on the families and organizations that are leading the effort to protect their natural and cultural patrimony for the generations to come.  On this journey you'll be guided by the Rosas Family, rancheros of the Sierras La Laguna Mountains, and the Cuevas family, shark hunters and fishermen of the Sea of Cortez. Both families count their Baja heritage in centuries. You'll work on projects with the women of Las Guardianas whose neighborhood in La Paz was started by Yaqui Indians who fled persecution in Sonora at the turn of the last century, as well as the volunteers of Efecto Arena, who are painstakingly restoring the coral beds around La Paz, one broken fragment at a time. In other words, you'll be seeing Baja with some of the coolest people around - and engaging with them directly conservation issues in Baja.
