The present itinerary scheduled for November 2022 will focus on offering a rather complete Kalahari Desert discovery experience.
As the heat builds up towards the southern summer ... with it comes the threatening cloud formations. This is the time of the year that offers the most dramatic landscapes in the Kalahari region. This is also when thirsty wildlife is forced to come and drink daily! As a bonus, with the return of the migratory species, the Kalahari should be bursting with birdlife including an impressive number of large raptors.
Although very much a desert, the Kalahari is also home to the San people and our itinerary includes meeting some of their community members to share ideas and learn more about their past wisdom and current challenges.
This itinerary will be fully escorted by the undersigned who will share his passion for Africa and the African bush. Part of the adventure is to self-drive your vehicle through the sands of the Kalahari and the pans of Makgadikgadi.
Mixing lodges and camping in the wildest places in a 1/3 to 2/3 proportion, this itinerary is participatory. Although escorted by our guide and the required camp assistant, everyone will be invited to take part in the camp duties.
As the name eXplorAction suggests, expect to discover unique places far away from everything with plenty of adventures and lots of action. Expect to hear the cry of the Kalahari (*).

Pricing is split into 3 sections: base package, car rental and flights. The base packages EXCLUDING VEHICLES and EXCLUDING FLIGHTS are:
NOTE ALL PRICING BEING RECALCULATED DUE TO FUEL IMPACT
- € per person sharing based on 8 to 10 participants (min 8)
- € per person sharing based on 11 to 12 participants
- € per person sharing based on 14 to 16 participants
- € SGL room supplement ... this obviously doesn't apply for campsites
VEHICLES The itinerary has been designed to be self-driven. We are using fully equipped 4x4 DBL Cab camping vehicles on a self drive basis with a maximum capacity of 4 adults each. The cost of rental is:
- € per vehicle seating maximum 4 adults for the entire duration of the trip
- In other words ... the vehicle would come down to € per person if shared between 2 people ... € per person if shared between 3 people ... € per person if shared between 4 people
FLIGHTS At the time of writing - 25 December 2021 - return economy class tickets into Johannesburg from Europe costs about € 650 per person.
The only additional costs to be expected would be drinks, fuel for the cars and personal expenses. ALL THE REST IS INCLUDED.
Exchange rates used are EUR 1.00 = USD 1.1330 = ZAR 17.8250
Includes:
- The rental on fully equipped 4x4 DBL (Toyota Hilux DBL Cab or similar) vehicles including all insurance, cleaning fees, eTolls based on the occupancy levels to be confirmed
- The use of camping gear as needed for this overland camping safari
- Accommodation as specified in the itinerary
- Full board meal plan during the entire program with meals as mentioned in restaurants, hotels, picnics or cooked over a campfire when camping - meals while camping are participatory
- Basic drinks such as mineral water, coffee, tea are included
- All entrance fees to places visited
- All activities listed as being included in the program

Excludes:
- International flights will be booked separately
- Personal sleeping and hygiene items (sleeping bag & towels)
- Fuel for the cars, parking fees and toll fees
