Dear Traveller,
This itinerary was designed for those who wish to experience the full ecological spectrum of Southern Africa’s premier wilderness areas. Rather than focusing on a single region, this journey seamlessly pieces together five distinct ecosystems, tracking the movement of water and wildlife across two countries using a highly efficient network of light aircraft flights.
The journey begins at the historic crossroads of Zimbabwe and transitions smoothly into the remote heart of Botswana, progressing through these key stages:
The Smoke That Thunders: Your journey begins at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This introduces you to the region's historic crossroads, allowing you the freedom to explore the falls at your own pace, enjoy sunset cruises along the Zambezi River, or participate in local excursions.
The Chobe Floodplains: Crossing the border into Botswana, you head to the Chobe Riverfront. This leg of the trip showcases the ancient, unrestricted migratory pulse of Africa’s largest elephant herds, observed via both open 4x4 game drives and water-level boat cruises along the floodplains.
The Savuti Ridge: Moving inland into Chobe National Park, you explore the Savuti Marsh and Channel. This area is known for its distinct volcanic topography, historic rock art, and intense predator-prey dynamics, with elevated terrain providing wide-angle views over the sweeping plains below.
The Permanent Delta: A short bush flight carries you deep into the northern Okavango Delta within a permanent deep-water region. Here, vehicle traffic is replaced by the quiet rhythms of a water wilderness, allowing you to explore deep lagoons by motorboat, glide down lily-dotted channels in a traditional mokoro, or track wildlife on guided foot safaris.
The Moremi Interface: The final stage of the journey takes place along the Boro River on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve. This destination balances your water experiences by prioritizing an intensive land-based focus, utilizing a professional guide-and-tracker system for off-road tracking and night drives through varied dry-land habitats.
Altogether, this is a meticulously paced and comprehensive exploration. By moving sequentially from the roaring waters of the Zambezi to the quiet, permanent channels of the Okavango, you will experience the ultimate contrast of landscapes, geology, and wildlife encounters that define the African bush.
