The area is located in the central western part of the country, nestled into the foothills of the Andes, and at the base of South Americas highest mountain the Aconcagua (6,959m). Due to its mountainous location this area has become a very popular destination for activities such as hiking, mountaineering, horseback riding, rafting, skiing and other adventure sports.
