August offers an ideal window for an unforgettable family safari experience through Northern and Central Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater—three of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife regions. As the dry season peaks, wildlife viewing is at its finest, with animals congregating around water sources and the landscape offering wide-open views for unforgettable sightings.
Embark on an unforgettable safari experience that weaves through some of Tanzania’s most iconic and breathtaking landscapes. From the lush, ancient caldera of Ngorongoro Crater, teeming with wildlife and steeped in geological wonder, to the boundless golden plains of the Central Serengeti, where the rhythm of the wild beats in every paw print and rustling grass, and finally northward to the dramatic and rugged beauty of the Northern Serengeti, where the great migration meets the Mara River in a raw spectacle of life and survival.
This journey is more than just a safari—it’s a front-row seat to nature’s grand performance. You'll witness diverse ecosystems, encounter the Big Five, and follow the migratory paths of wildebeest and zebra as they brave crocodile-infested waters and predator-laden plains. Along the way, every sunrise promises new discovery, and every sunset is a reminder of the wild magic that defines Africa.

TIPPING
Best to bring US cash in smaller bills - US cash is the currency for tourism in Tanzania. You won’t need much, if any local shillings. If you wish to change money, all hotels do it at the bank rate. They don’t gouge at all.
If you use a credit card at a lodge/camp (which you can), they add a surcharge to pay for their card fees. We usually pay in $US cash. Rarely is the bill more than $30 or $40 dollars as drinks are not expensive.
Bring $US 5s and 1s for tipping lodge staff (i.e. porters, house cleaning staff, waiters). Staff aren’t paid well and truly appreciate our tips. The going rate is $5 per room for house cleaning, $1 per bag for porters and $ 3-$5 for great service from dining staff.
For your safari guide and driver the minimum rate is $10 per person / per day for the professional guide and $5 per person / per day for the driver.
