A wonderful itinerary starting with Bahir Dar where you can visit some monastries and enjoy relaxing boat rides on Lake Tana looking over at the hippos and the pelicans. Followed by the historical churches at Gondar and Lalibela and going even further back in time to Axum - which still has sites yet to be excavated. Ending your trip in the northern Ethiopian highlands, where you can hike amongst the villages and mountains coming across historical rock-hewn churches.
