Manfred Foeger - Photographic workshop

Have you ever been on safari and thought I wish I could put what I am seeing into a picture or perhaps felt your pictures are not doing the experience you are having justice. If you are looking for some tuition in a small beginner's group with likeminded photographers in one of Africa's most pristine and wild parks then this is the trip for you. Co-hosted by two teachers to help with your technical and creative tuition you will receive a mix of theoretical classes and practical experiences with in hand advice. The group is limited to 10 spaces either a maxi of 5 people per vehicle along with one instructor. 

All too often we hear of fellow photographers  who wish to learn more about photography but are often put off or feel rushed in the moment. In a nurturing and encouraging environment we aim over the next week to not only develop your photography skills but your own style, your confidence and to meet likeminded people who will continue to help you grow as a photographer and even might be people you travel with in the future. 

The whole week will combine a mixture of classes to learn the basics, to on drives for practical exposure. We will utilise being in the bush to maximise your time to take great photos as well as exploring many creative approaches. From sitting by hippo pools or in the ebony forest to experiment with techniques to learn how to set up and import your pictures onto your laptop/hard drive. We will cover the basics but also try to encourage you to find your own niche and style before unleashing you on the action of the South Luangwa Bush. 

There are 2 teachers available Manfred Foeger from  -  a biologist (PhD in behavioural science and animal physiology) with a deep passion for travel and photography, dedicates much of his time to discovering the world’s most beautiful locations. His photographic journey began in the late 1990s on Lake Garda: "I was commissioned by a German publishing house to take photographs of the landscapes, flora and fauna around the lake for a nature hiking guide. This was followed by numerous other book projects and articles in mountain and outdoor magazines until the mid 2000s. In addition, I utilised my photographs as a component of my professional endeavours in adult education, particularly in the context of training nature and hiking guides." In 2007, he went on his first longer trip to southern Africa. And of course, had his camera in hand. He can't really put into words how it felt -" it was like coming home and setting off for new shores at the same time. The African bug has never left me since. Numerous other trips to various regions of Africa followed. At the same time, I started organising guided nature trips to some of my favourite destinations, including Namibia, Cuba and various islands in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic." From 2017, wildlife photography became the focus of his work in Africa. With extensive experience traveling across the continent, he has developed a keen eye for capturing the continent’s stunning wildlife in its natural environment. An award winning photographer and keen teacher he is an excellent option to help you develop your skills as well as teaching you about the bush and your camera! 

& Chloe McCormack - Chloe has 16 years behind her in the industry, from organising safaris to hosting them, running a lodge to guiding. She took her first steps as a photographer after getting a camera as a birthday present from her dad. Since then she has used her time in the bush to hone in her skills and also offer guests at the lodge she works at some tips and tricks. Having managed Msandile for the last 4 years she is in the perfect position to find the best spots to get creative, utilise the guides to position the vehicles to predict animal behaviour and advise on what equipment to bring. Having taken probably close to a million photos over the last 4 years she is a queen at a cull and quick edit! She gets excited and passionate and has the ability to turn the seemingly mundane into magic!
