8-Day Luxury Amazon, Cerrado and Northern Pantanal

The mystical Amazon can only be described in superlatives.
It spans an area of over 5 million square kilometers, 80% of which lies within Brazilian territory, stretching across eight states — one of them being Mato Grosso. It is the largest and most well-preserved tropical rainforest region on the planet. Flowing through this vast area is an immense drainage system of over a thousand rivers, which together account for 20% of the world’s supply of fresh surface water.

The heart of Brazil covers an area equivalent to Western Europe (2,000,000 km²) and is home to the “Cerrado” — the original native vegetation of the region — considered the richest savanna in the world due to its high plant diversity and endemism. Most of Brazil’s major rivers have their sources here. It is an area of enormous ecological importance, featuring many places of stunning natural beauty, such as the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, located just 55 km from Cuiabá airport. Its biodiversity provides a habitat for 837 bird species, 161 mammals, 120 reptiles, and over 10,000 vascular plants — 44% of which are endemic.

The Pantanal is the largest floodplain on Earth, recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. Over 124,000 square kilometers of it lie within Brazil. The Northern Pantanal is just two hours south of Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso, offering safe and easy access to one of the most fascinating wildlife destinations in the world. It is one of the last great wilderness frontiers on the planet and undoubtedly the best place in the Americas to observe wildlife — particularly the elusive jaguar.
