Combine our 4 stunning lodges; Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Plains Camp (home of Rhino Walking Safaris) in the Kruger National Park and Masuwe Lodge and Chundu Island in Victoria Falls for this epic exhilarating African adventure.
Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Plains Camp (home of Rhino Walking Safaris) are situated on a 12 000 hectare private wilderness concession located entirely within the world renowned Kruger National Park (KNP).
The concession offers some of the best game viewing opportunities in Africa and the Big Five – elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo – can be seen, as well as a wide diversity of other fauna and flora.
We are located 20 kilometres from Kruger’s Skukuza Airport and share a 14km unfenced boundary with the Mala Mala Game Reserve and the Sabi Sands.
Rhino Post Safari Lodge is built beneath magnificent Tamboti trees along the banks of the usually dry Mutlumuvi River. The river, as with many others in the region, only flows after big storms but is regularly used as a pathway by many animals en-routeto the waterhole in front of the lodge.
Natural stone, wood, thatch & canvas have been used in the construction of the lodge to blend in with the bush and to ensure that our environmental footprint is kept to a minimum.
The eight spaciously appointed luxury suites are all raised on stilts and there are good views of the river bed from your bedroom, bathroom and private deck.
The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and glass doors and windows. Each en-suite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, ‘his & hers’ basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower surrounded by wooden poles. Raised walkways linking the spacious rooms to the main area allow smaller animals to wander through the entire lodge area.
Plains Camp is situated in the heart of the concession overlooking the spectacular Timbitene Plain and waterhole. Nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket, Plains Camp offers four creatively elegantly furnished African explorer-style luxury tents, with en suite and hot running water.
The construction and location of the camp helps visitors achieve a sense of being part of nature, whilst still enjoying the serenity of a comfortably appointed camp that would have delighted the great explorers of the 19th century.
The camp forms the ideal base for safari walks with experienced guides who enthral visitors with the knowledge of the bush and its residents. Depending on availability and the weather guests at Plains Camp may also have the option of sleeping out under the stars on the elevated decks at the Sleepout.
Masuwe Lodge is only a 10-minute drive from the bustling town of Victoria Falls where one can tour “The Falls”, participate in a variety of extreme sports, enjoy the thrill of helicopter trips high above the spray from the waterfall and spend time unearthing local treasures in the curio stores.
After an energetic day exploring the “The Falls” and the town, visitors return to the tranquillity of the lodge followed by optional game drives in the Chamabonda National Park. With complimentary transfers in and out of town, Masuwe Lodge is the perfect base from which to experience the excitement and wonders of Victoria Falls, while enjoying the gentle ebb and flow of safari life.
Chundu Island, located on a private island concession on the Zambezi River, Chundu Island offers the perfect foil to the hustle and bustle of Victoria Falls.
The surroundings and construction of the lodge sets a ‘Seychelles meets Zambezi’ mood and the spacious palm thatched suites sheltered by huge riverine trees along the edge of the island overlook the mighty Zambezi River, the fourth largest watercourse in Africa. Chundu Island falls within the Zambezi National Park which boasts a wide range of wildlife. Elephants, hippos and other animals are often seen on the southern bank of the river a few hundred metres from the lodge.
The best of both worlds is on offer here, with a combination of water activities and wildlife viewing.
Game drives and walks, canoeing on the river, fishing and birding, and stunning sunsets are just some of the attractions of the barefoot island-lifestyle at Chundu.
Guests choose activities upon arrival at the lodge and are regularly briefed about the various activity options on offer.
