About Seolo Africa

About Us

Seolo Africa is a circuit of lodges and camps, scattered between South Africa and Zimbabwe. We promise comfortable crisp accommodation, outstanding service and an authentic bush experience.

Our lodges are not fenced and game drives are geared toward seeing everything that nature has to offer. Our ethos is to engage with nature and wildlife in respectful ways – we do not drive off road, minimizing damage to plants, birds, small animals and insects, not contributing to erosion, and most importantly showing our guests great animal sightings without chasing or stressing the creatures that we so admire. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products and work closely with communities in skills development, upliftment and business development.

We are conservationists at heart, and actively involved in the community and community projects that give back.

Most importantly, we have made it our mission to provide top experiences – competing with some of Africa’s best known lodge brands – at a reasonable rate. A mission driven by our personal want to make these experiences available for everyone – not just for an exclusive traveller set. We want everyone to at least have the chance to experience the same things that bring Africa to life for us, without going broke. The fact that we have superb chefs and provide excellent quality linens and comfy beds is just the icing on the cake.

We have carefully selected like-minded properties and owners who share our ethos. Our Safari Siblings are people we trust, not only with our guests but with the future of conservation and sustainable tourism. We believe they and their properties offer compatible, quality, authentic experiences in areas that complement the journeys that we design.

These are industry friends, and owners of smaller businesses who are actively involved in the management of their properties. People who have a personal interest in ensuring that their reputation is protected and that the service they offer is not only professional but genuinely caring and personalised. To all of us, our guests are not statistics, they are friends we haven’t met yet, and in many cases friends who are drawn to return to a place and people who made them feel cherished.

Itinerary Terms and Conditions

Provisional Bookings

Provisional bookings made more than 3 months in advance, will be held for 7 days and then automatically released, unless otherwise authorised

Provisional bookings made less than 3 months in advance, will only be held for 48 hours and then automatically released, unless otherwise authorised

Should the above release times not be suitable, please feel free to contact us for alternate arrangements

All bookings must be confirmed in writing

Confirmed Bookings

We run small lodges in remote areas and cancellations, even of just two people, can greatly affect the operation of the lodge; therefore we require full payment prior to guests arrival and strict adherence to our cancellation policy

Please ensure that guests have adequate travel insurance to cover any cancellations or changes in travel arrangements

FIT Reservations

We require written confirmation accepting our terms and conditions

A 50% deposit is required upon confirmation

Full pre-payment is required 30 (thirty) days prior to client’s date of arrival, unless alternative arrangements have been made.

We reserve the right to cancel the reservation should we not receive this payment timeously.

Cancellation Policy (Applicable to all confirmed FIT reservations, except groups)

We require written confirmation for all cancellations (e-mail or facsimile)

Cancelled 61+ days prior to arrival: 10% of the full accommodation charge

Cancelled 60 - 46 days prior to arrival: 25% of the full accommodation charge

Cancelled 45 - 15 days prior to arrival: 75% of the full accommodation charge

Cancelled 14 - 0 days prior to arrival: 90% of the full accommodation charge

Group Bookings or Package Bookings

The word “group” applies to 8 or more full paying guests

A 50% deposit, of which 25% is non-refundable, is required to confirm a group or package reservation

Full pre-payment is required 60 (sixty) days prior to arrival

We reserve the right to cancel the reservation should we not receive this deposit timeously

Cancellation Policy for Groups & Friends for Free February Special

A 50% deposit is payable on all confirmed group bookings

Cancelled 91+ days prior to arrival: 25% of the full accommodation charge

Cancelled 90 - 31 days prior to arrival: 75% of the full accommodation charge

Cancelled 30 - 0 days prior to arrival: 90% of the full accommodation charge

✣ All bank deposits are to be received free of any bank charges or commissions

✣ All credit card payments by agents for accommodation will have a 3% surcharge, except AMEX & DINERS which have a 5% surcharge

✣ Please note that only cash or credit cards are accepted at the lodges - strictly no debit cards!

✣ It is the client's responsibility to ensure they have adequate travel insurance, including cancellation, medical/health and luggage cover

✣ All guests are to settle their extras account in full prior to departure

Minimum Stay

✣ 2 night minimum stay from 15 December to 15 January at Masuwe Lodge

✣ 2 night minimum stay year round at Chundu Island

✣ 2 night minimum stay from 15 December to 15 January at Rhino Post Safari Lodge

✣ 2 night minimum stay year round at Plains Camp (home of Rhino Walking Safaris)

Land Transfer Terms & Conditions

✣ All transfers need to be pre-booked.

✣ All rates quoted are subject to change, without prior notice. Our standard cancellation policy applies.

✣ Driver's overnight meals & accommodation after drop-off or before pick-up are for the guest's account.

✣ From time to time a driver may be requested to overnight for an early or late transfer. The cost of the driver's overnight accommodation and meals are not included in the transfer rate. If required, the additional cost will be advised at the time of booking.

FIT’s & Groups

  • FIT’s refers to a booking for 7 or less full-paying guests occupying 4 or less rooms.
  • A group is considered a booking for 8 or more full-paying guests or 5 or more rooms.

Procedures

  • All bookings/enquiries must be submitted in writing via email to the reservation office. No reservations may be assumed to be confirmed, amended, or cancelled without written confirmation from us.

Provisional Booking & Release Periods

Provisional bookings made in advance will be held for the period as set out below and then automatically released unless otherwise authorised.

FIT's - 7 or less guests occupying 4 or less rooms

Days Prior To Arrival

  • 15 - 60 Days:  72 Hours (3 Days)
  • 61 – 90 Days:  7 Days
  • 91+ Days:  14 Days

GROUPS - 8 or more guests or 5 or more rooms

Confirmed Bookings

Our lodges are intimate with between 4 to 10 rooms/tents. Cancellations of even just 2 people can greatly affect the operation of the lodge; we therefore require full payment prior to guests' arrival and strict adherence to our cancellation policy. We strongly recommend that guests have adequate travel insurance to cover any cancellations or changes in travel arrangements.

Payment Terms & Conditions 

  • Full payment is required prior to the guests’ arrival.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the reservation should we not receive the payments timeously.
  • All bank deposits and/or balance payments are to be received in full and free of bank charges.
  • We will require proof of payment, should the payment be facilitated via electronic bank transfer (EFT).
  • To assist us with identifying the payment for a reservation, please include the reservation number as payment reference.
  • All guests are to settle the extras on their account in full prior to departure.

Banking Details & Cyber Security

  • If the guests are adding us as a new online banking beneficiary, please check the banking details on their invoice with a bank confirmation letter and confirm these details with either a telephone call or WhatsApp with our reservations team.

Cancellation Policy

  • We require written confirmation for all cancellations and no reservations may be assumed to be confirmed, amended, or cancelled without written confirmation from us.
  • Please note that the cancellation fees are charged on any amendments, reductions in the number of rooms, or a reduction in guest numbers that affect the original value of the accommodation for the confirmed booking.
  • Cancellation fees will apply to the full value of the booking.
  • Refunds due will be processed in the currency the funds were received in our bank, less a 5% administration fee.
  • The guest’s banking details must be confirmed with a valid bank confirmation.

Cancellation charges levied on Third-Party Service Providers.

In the event that Seolo has booked any third-party service providers, be it road transfers, boat transfers, third-party activities, flights, third party accommodation or the like, cancellation fees will be levied as per the third-party’s terms and conditions plus a 5% admin fee.

Third Party Service Providers

Services such as land and water transfers, activities not specified as included in the property nightly rates and scheduled flights are outsourced to third party service providers who determine the rates. Unforeseen increases may occur from time to time, which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to amend published rates for services contracted with these product partners, as well as package costings that may include such services.
