Niassa Reserve and Gorongosa National Park - Set Date Safari July 2025

The Niassa Reserve in the far North of Mozambique is one of the largest protected wildlife areas in Africa at over 40,000Km2, that is just the Niassa! - This is a contiguous wildlife area that joins with a wildlife corridor into the South of the Selous Reserve of Tanzania and also the Quirimbas national park in the East, making it probably the largest contiguous protected area in Africa. This safari will be in a concession area - Block C - that sits on the Lugenda River, the major river of the area and has over 300km's river frontage and about 1 million acres of pristine wilderness to explore. It is primarily a hunting concession which has very strict quota controls and hunting ethics, so you will not find animals heading for cover as soon as they hear or see people. It is very well managed and been the main source of revenue for the recovery and protection of this reserve.

From Niassa you go to explore Gorongosa National Park - essentially a privately run National Park that has been one of the great success stories of how a park with the proper financing and motivation has been able to rebuild and be a real force for change on many levels both in and out the park. It has an extraordinary level of diversity and a population of herbivores and carnivores that are absolutely thriving and growing in number each year. It is extraordinary to see as an example herds of Waterbuck that are easily in the several hundreds and one of the main prey species for the packs of Wild Dog thriving in this park. It is  well worth visiting.
