Day 1: Niassa National Reserve

Wed. 16 Jul 2025

You arrive into Pemba airport in the far North of Mozambique. You will be met in the arrivals area after clearing the entry formalities and then a charter flight to the Niassa Reserve. The safari starts with a game drive into camp and then time to get settled in and lunch before we set off on the start of our adventure in this vast reserve.

Day 2: Niassa National Reserve

Thu. 17 Jul 2025

During our time here we will be able to do a combination of game drives and bush walks with no real limitations on where we go to explore this beautiful reserve.

Day 3: Niassa National Reserve

Fri. 18 Jul 2025

Today we do a hike along the Lugenda River - no big time pressure just a nice walk along the river stopping frequently to enjoy the views and explore wherever we want along this beautiful river. We will reach camp in time for lunch so we can rest here and then explore further from the camp in the afternoon.

Days 4 - 5: Niassa National Reserve

Sat. 19 Jul 2025 - Sun. 20 Jul 2025

Today we focus more on the Lugenda River with a canoe ride down the river in inflatable Kayaks.  We will have areas where we can stop and take time out to enjoy the wildlife and scenery and just spend the day enjoying this remote and important source of water for many of the creatures that live here.

Our camp here is the main safari hunting camp - set on a high bank overlooking the Lugenda River this is a  more permanent set up, still rustic but has more facilities like en-suite facilities and even wi-fi. It is important to note that there will be other guests here that will likely be here for hunting which is the main revenue stream for this concession area and what pays for the protection and source of livelihood for the communities here. During the day we will know where they are going to be hunting so we will not come in contact with them and so interfere with what either party are doing.

Days 6 - 8: Niassa National Reserve

Mon. 21 Jul 2025 - Wed. 23 Jul 2025

We leave the main camp today and move to another fly camp - larger tents this time but set right amongst the beautiful Inselbergs that are such a classic feature of this landscape in Northern Mozambique. From here we will be able to do game drives and bush walks exploring all around here away from the main river.

Day 9: Gorongosa National Park

Thu. 24 Jul 2025

We fly today from Niassa Reserve all the way South to the center of Mozambique where the Gorongosa national Park is. It is a long flight but incredibly scenic.

We have a short drive into camp from the airstrip so you have time to settle in and relax before we set off for an afternoon exploration of this incredible park.

Days 10 - 13: Gorongosa National Park

Fri. 25 Jul 2025 - Mon. 28 Jul 2025

You have four full days to enjoy Gorongosa and explore as far afield as we can or keep it local. This is a huge park with much of it unexplored so there is a lot to do here.

Depending on the water levels of Lake Urema we may be able to explore the lake by boat or if too shallow we will search over the vast grasslands created by its receding waters at this dry time of the year. We also have the option of doing a night out fly camping right up on Mount Gorongosa to catch the early morning dawn chorus of birds if you are a really keen birder.

Bush walks, Night Drives, Game Drives and possibly Boat cruises are all part of the Gorongosa safari experience plus we can drive off road if necessary to get the best of a particular sighting.

Day 14: End of Itinerary

Tue. 29 Jul 2025

Today we will arrange a charter flight back to the International airport of Beira which will be timed to suit the groups departure flights or onward safari plans.
