Introduction

This 7-night safari explores the heart of Luangwa National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wilderness areas, divided between two exceptional regions. The first four nights are spent in the Nsefu sector, where access to three diverse habitats, the Luangwa riverside, Mutanda plains, and salt pans, creates unparalleled opportunities for wildlife encounters. The salt pans are year-round hotspots for serval sightings and, from August, attract crowned cranes. Game drives here traverse rich floodplains and woodland, with a high concentration of predators including leopard, lion, and wild dog, alongside elephant, giraffe, puku, hippo, and crocodile. Exclusive access to a yellow-billed stork colony in May and excellent in-camp wildlife viewing from hides and waterholes provide additional layers to the experience.

The final three nights are spent in a remote area at the confluence of the Mwaleshi and Luangwa rivers, offering a more secluded and intimate safari experience. This region is home to over 450 hippos in the river stretch, abundant birdlife with more than 400 species recorded, and a diverse array of wildlife including lion, leopard, elephant, kudu, waterbuck, Cookson’s wildebeest, and wild dog. Open viewing areas in front of camp and nearby natural springs allow for extended wildlife observation, while game drives explore the rich floodplains, riverbanks, and woodland habitats.

Combined, these two regions provide a comprehensive Luangwa experience: from predator-rich floodplains and historical river habitats to remote hippo-filled river confluences and birding hotspots. With expert guides, limited vehicle numbers, and exclusive access to key wildlife sites, this safari delivers both high-quality sightings and an intimate connection with one of Africa’s most iconic parks.
