Introduction

There are few better ways to enjoy the highlights of the Scottish Highlands than by rail, and the Royal Scotsman is the perfect way to explore the great lochs, glens and castles in style and comfort.

Just 36 guests travel through breath-taking landscapes and along unspoilt coastlines, in a relaxed but stylish atmosphere which is reminiscent of a grand country house party. You will take in the views from an open-deck observation carriage, enjoy superb cuisine and fine wines from the two dining cars and retire to the bar for a wide-array of single malts in the evening. Along the way, guests disembark to visit grand country estates, ancient castles and historic distilleries, take part in activities including fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting, or simply take a stroll to enjoy fresh mountain air. Whilst most cabins have twin beds, there are also double and single cabins and each has a private bathroom with shower.
