Canyonlands National Park

Days 1 - 2

Canyonlands National Park was established to preserve over 136 000 hectares of colourful canyons, mesas and buttes in the heart of southeast Utah’s high desert. This impressive park, known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado river, is divided into four districts - each offering different opportunities for exploration and adventure. The four districts are Island in the Sky, a huge, flat-topped mesa with panoramic views; the Needles, with towering rock pinnacles; the Maze, featuring remote canyons; and Horseshoe Canyon, where primitive rock paintings can be seen. Visitors can look forward to a variety of outdoor adventure activities including hiking, mountain biking, camping and river rafting on the rapids flowing through Cataract Canyon. Not-to-be-missed are the Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park.
