Als u Kuta te wild vindt en Nusa Dua te rustig, dan is Sanur wellicht de regio waar u naar op zoek bent. Sanur heeft veel energieks te bieden en beschikt over gezinsvriendelijke stranden maar is toch iets milder in ambiance tegenover Kuta. In juli organiseert men in Sanur het International Kite Festival. De schitterende blauwe lucht is dan gevuld met kleurrijke vliegers in alle soorten en maten. U kan in Sanur ook het Le Mayeur Museum bezoeken. Dit was het voormalige huis van de gelijknamige kunstenaar. Meer zin in natuur? Maak dan zeker eens een tocht door het mangrovebos van Sanur en bezoek het Turtle Conservation Centre.

West Bali National Park is gelegen aan de noordwestelijke punt van Bali en is een beschermd gebied van meer dan 19000 ha, met inbegrip van het schiereiland Prapat Agung en de omliggende kustwateren. Mature travellers will delight in the relaxed seaside ambience of Candi Dasa, located at the edge of a freshwater lagoon in eastern Bali. A popular tourist spot since the ‘70s, this seaside town is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere, and superb snorkelling and diving conditions. The most impressive dive sites are around the rocky islets of Gili Selang, Gili Biaha, Gili Mimpang and Gili Tepekong, where divers can see exquisite coral gardens, several species of sharks and, between August and October, enormous oceanic sunfish, which grow up to six feet. A visit to Pura Candi Dasa, twin temples devoted to Shiva and Hariti, set atop the hillside overlooking the lagoon, proves a fascinating expedition.
Not as busy as its two siblings - Gili Air and Gili Trawangan - this tiny green-covered getaway is a true island idyll off the west coast of Lombok. Renowned for its unspoiled beauty and tranquillity, Gili Meno's pristine beaches are perfectly complemented by the swaying palm trees that line its coastline. Even better, if you're up for some adventure while on your tropical break, then the waters surrounding Gili aren't lacking in excitement either. Dive into such spectacular locations as Meno Wall, Sea Point Turtle, and Point Coral Blue to swim amidst a wall of hanging corals, turtles, anemones with clown fish, sweetlips, sea fans, angel fish, scorpion fish, and many more. Or if you prefer nature out of water, then why not explore mangrove forests, the saltwater lake, and more than 200 bird species at the Bird Park.
You can’t go wrong with this traditional tourist resort on Lombok Island. Popular with holidaymakers, Senggigi features reasonably priced hotels along the sweeping bays, all set against a backdrop of mountainous jungle. Activity-wise there’s something for everyone, with cultural and wildlife tours, watersports and cooking courses, shopping and spas all being readily available. The resort makes a wonderful home base for visitors who want to take day trips to surrounding waterfalls, the Gili Islands, or any of the traditional villages in the vicinity.
Nusa Lembongan staat bekend om zijn spectaculaire landschappen.
