Breede River Valley

Days 1 - 3

Situated in the spectacularly scenic Western Cape Province, the Breede River Valley is home to some of South Africa's greatest wine producing areas. The partially navigable river offers the unique prospect of wine tasting while cruising along its calm waters. This picturesque valley is peppered with a handful of quaint farming towns including Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor, Tulbagh and Montagu. It falls along the incredibly popular Route 62, which is said to be one of the longest wine routes in the world. Soak up the magnificent views of majestic mountains meeting fertile plains swathed in vineyards; sample a wide variety of delicious local wines and immerse yourself in the relaxed country atmosphere. Canoeing, fishing and hiking are on offer for adventurous types.

Days 3 - 5

Located 15 km north-west of Vredenburg and 145 km north of Cape Town, this charming fishing village is a great place for a seaside escape, with its historical buildings, warm hospitality, long beach and beautiful views. It also has several quaint restaurants serving sublimely fresh and tasty seafood and one or two bars where you can enjoy a few drinks and get acquainted with the locals. Dolphins and whales can be spotted off the coast for ten months of the year and the striking Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, located just three kilomteres away, is a beautiful spot to explore, with its boulder-framed bay dotted with camping spots and barbeque facilities.
