Racha Yai Island

Days 8 - 14

Koh Racha Yai, the big sister island of Ko Raya Noi, lies roughly 20 kilometres south of Phuket. Gorgeous crescent bays of soft white sands are lapped by crystalline waters and fringed by palm trees. The surrounding ocean provides a wonderland for snorkelling and diving - explore colourful reefs and see an abundant diversity of marine life. The island’s inhabitants are mostly fishermen. While Ao Tawan Tok, or Ao Bungalow, the main beach, can be a little busy in the afternoons, Koh Racha Yai is relatively quiet, especially at night, when the clear skies make for excellent stargazing. There are a few world-class restaurants and spas around the island to help fulfil travellers’ hedonistic needs. Make sure to keep an eye out for dolphins.
