Buon Ma Thuot is the capital city of Daklak Province, in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. This vibrant, sprawling town has a population of around 300,000 local inhabitants and is known for its local museum and its wonderful coffee culture. An exploration of this area will take you past countless coffee plantations and should include regular stops at the numerous local cafes. The highlight for coffee lovers is the Trung Nguyen coffee village in the center of town which features some lovely gardens and embraces the architectural style and cultural identity of the Central Highlands. The cafe does double duty as a museum dedicated to the history of coffee in Vietnam and around the world. The city is so enamoured with coffee that it even has a coffee festival that takes place every March.
