Ban Me Thuot is the capital city of Dak Lak Province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. It is the largest city in Vietnam's Central Highlands region and is often dubbed as the regional "Coffee Capital" thanks to its large area of coffee cultivation and coffee processing industry.
Subject to flight arrival time, you can pick an optional Ban Me Thuot city tour with visit to the Museum of Ethnology, which is housed in the summer palace of the former emperor Bao Dai and then visit the beautiful village of the M’nong ethnic minority people in the heart of the city.

Places of interest include Kien Weasel Cuong Coffee, where you will learn how the locals raise and care the weasels, see the coffee gardens where these animals eat beans and learn how they produce weasel coffee, which is considered “having a distinctive taste and flavor”. You may want to have a cup of weasel coffee to find how it tastes (at your own account).
Leaving the weasel coffee farm, you will visit Trung Nguyen Coffee Village, which is a complex of museum, demonstration processing facility and coffee shops. Here you will learn how to distinguish between some kinds of coffee trees like Arabica, Robusta, and Cherry…
Afterward, you will visit the G20 Coffee factory, which is a well-known coffee brand in Vietnam. Here you will learn the procedures of coffee bean buying from farmers (wet/dry coffee processing), coffee roasting and grinding. You can try your hands as workers to pack instant coffee for exporting,
After lunch at a selected restaurant, your tour continues with visit to the nursery farms and then on to the coffee plantations, where you will see local farmers plant and care the coffee trees, especially the Robusta. You will also see how avocado, black pepper, durian and jack fruit trees look like as they are also planted in between the coffee rows.
Seasonally you can join the locals in harvesting coffee beans (from October to December).
Ban Me Thuot Coffee Tour
Hiking to Bim Bip Waterfall
08:00 hrs. Hotel pick-up and depart to Bim Bip Waterfall, about 40 km south of Ban Me Thuot City. You will hike along a 3.5 km path (about 01 hour) through coffee plantations and natural forest to Bim Bip Waterfall. This waterfall is located at the foot of Cu Yang Sin Mountain with grand pieces of rocks and natural forest on both sides. Here you may want to sock up in the fresh and cool waterfall flowing all-year round.
Visit Ethnic Minority Villages
Afterward, continue hiking back and drive to Lak Lake for lunch at restaurant. The lake is the second largest freshwater natural lake in Vietnam after the Babe Lake in the North-western mountainous area of the county. Fed by the river of Krong Ana, Lak Lake is surrounded by the villages of the M’nong people living in very long houses and green mountains covered by lush forests.
Take a boat trip to admire the 500ha lake surface, then go ashore to experience a ride by makeshift tractor called “Cong Nong” through rice paddy fields to M’Lieng village. Have a walk around the village to observe the local people’s lifestyles and then drive back to Ban Me Thuot with a stop en-route to climb up to the top of the elephant rock with nice surrounding views and fresh-air.
