The French-Caribbean Guadeloupe Islands are situated in the beautiful southern Caribbean Sea. Often referred to as a single island, the two largest islands, Basse-Terre to the west and Grande-Terre to the east, form the shape of a butterfly and are separated by the magnificent Salee River. The smaller islands of Marie-Galante, La Desirade and lles des Saintes, also form part of the stunning Guadeloupe Island group. Visitors can look forward to exploring the spectacularly scenic Guadeloupe National Park, home to the majestic La Grande Soufriere Volcano as well as the magnificent Carbet Falls. Grande-Terre

Set in the Lesser Antilles, Grande-Terre Island is the eastern half of Guadeloupe proper. Separated from the other half of Guadeloupe island, Basse-Terre, by a narrow sea channel called Riviere Salee, the island of Grande-Terre serves as a great base from which to explore the stunning surrounds. It is well known for its sugar cane plantations, rich cultural heritage, and pristine white-sand beaches. Grand Terre is the most visited and most popular island of Guadeloupe. Visitors can look forward to soaking up the views from the Pointe de la Grande Vigie, the northernmost point of Guadeloupe island; discovering the collection of beautiful turquoise lagoons, and enjoying world-class surfing on a string of spectacular beaches. Basse-Terre Island

Located in the French Lesser Antilles, Basse-Terre Island forms part of Guadeloupe. Although its name translates to 'low land', Basse-Terre, dubbed Guadeloupe's 'trump card', is filled to the brim with soaring peaks and swathes of dense rainforest. Visitors can look forward to various incredible activities and attractions, including the active La Soufriere volcano, the lush Parc National de la Guadeloupe and a string of glorious beaches. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the incredibly scenic northwestern corner of Basse-Terre, discover some of the best dive sites in the Caribbean around Pigeon Island and enjoy a road trip on the western Route de la Traversee, which passes dramatic sea cliffs and the azure bays below.

Trois-Rivieres

Situated on the south coast of the island of Basse-Terre, Trois-Rivieres is a commune in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. Trois-Rivieres is named after the three rivers running through it: the river of Trou au Chien, the Petit Carbet, and the River Grand Anse, which is the longest. It serves as a great base to explore the scenic Atlantic coastline, the mountains of Soufriere, and the Cistern volcano. Trois-Rivieres boasts a rich cultural heritage and colonial architecture and is home to a collection of engraved rocks around the Petit Carbet. Visitors can look forward to discovering the selection of natural attractions, such as the Grand Anse beach and the trails of Acomat and Grande Pointe.
