Heading to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano!

Travel time approx. 3.30 hours.

The majestic Arenal Volcano awaits your arrival, with its imposing volcanic silhouette standing tall against the landscape of the Northern region. From a distance, its presence is undeniable, though the giant often hides behind clouds. If you're fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of its full splendor, consider it a rare treat.  Surrounding the volcano are numerous natural wonders ready to be explored such as walks in the rainforest, cascades, zipline adventures, wildlife boat safaris, horseback rides or sloths sanctuaries.

How about hiking the base of the volcano and enjoying the relaxing hot springs of the area? This experience combines both meditative tranquility and exciting adventure, as you explore the rich flora and fauna of the region — an experience that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.

Until 2010, the volcano showed regular activity, often releasing clouds of smoke and incandescent rocks. This phase of frequent eruptions began with a large explosion in 1968, which devastated an entire village. Since then, Arenal volcano has entered a period of calm, with only minimal activity.

Both the volcano and the nearby town of La Fortuna are popular destinations, offering a wide range of accommodations, activities, shops and dining options.
