Day 1: Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport where you will be expected and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Your excursion this morning starts at the Mwenge Roundabout where your guide will explain the importance of the torch in Tanzania’s history. You continue to the Clock Tower (the mid-point between Cape Town and Cairo), Carver’s Village marketplace where you can observe ebony carvings being created, and Tanzanite Experience, a display showing the history of gem mining in Tanzania and a shop with various gemstones including Tanzanite which is only found in a small mine a few kilometres from Arusha. Lunch is served at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, join customized vehicle safari with pup-up roof and depart Arusha passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni continue to Lake Burunge on the western edge of Tarangire National Park Gate. Here your lodge is located on the shores of the lake adjacent to the park.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

In the morning board your safari vehicle for game viewing within Tarangire National  Park in search of its large lion prides and elephant herds. Drive through the baobab tree lined park and explore the silale swamp. Return to your camp for lunch. 

Afternoon drive north through the park and to the town of Makuyuni where you continue the journey through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara.

Day 4: Central Serengeti, Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast there is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park that returns to the camp for lunch. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues North West across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you begin spotting wildlife as you approach the entrance gate.  Complete the formalities and enter the park with game viewing en route to the  camp arriving for dinner

Day 5: Central Serengeti

  

Hot Air Ballooning Option: Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site.  You meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon.  At sunrise, your shared hot air balloon lifts off over the Serengeti plains.  At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem.  Then you descend to just above treetop level to silently observe the wildlife below.  After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast.  You then return to your camp or lodge. Reserve in advance.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Region

After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro viewing wildlife across the vast Serengeti plains, stopping off en route for your picnic lunch. You then continue your journey towards Ngorongoro where you pass along the rim of the crater and descend to the park gate and your lodge located in Karatu surrounded by farmland and a view of the backwall of the crater. 

Day 7: Ngorongoro Region

A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the World’s largest natural wildlife arena. After an early breakfast, you drive to the park gate and descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. A truly unique wildlife experience with the possibility to see "The Big-5".  Return to the lodge in the late afternoon

Day 8: End of Itinerary

Those that awake early enough will be able to enjoy the sunrise across the eastern rim of Ngorongoro Crater.

Following breakfast, thhis morning head east to Arusha. The journey will pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. On arrival in Arusha lunch is provided followed by transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport. 

Earliest flight to be booked at 5pm.
