DAY 1

You made it!  You have arrived to the land of PURA VIDA - meaning PURE LIFE!!!

Although the plane journey is over there is still a 4-hour transfer to our accommodation @ CASA BELLA.  Be sure to stretch... grab a snack and let the journey begin!  It's a beautiful drive.... the time will pass quickly and we will stop for lunch somewhere along the way.  Lunch is not included today.

Once you arrive @ CASA BELA we will get settled in our rooms and have a lovely Welcome dinner with various meet and greet activities.

DAY 2

COFFEE TASTING

Each day we will be served a different excellent Costa Rican coffee (option of tea/herbal tea for those who don’t caffeine) and on the last day we will set up Costa Rican coffee socks, review each of the coffees, and do a coffee judging. Each guest will go home with a gift bag of coffee and local chocolate.

TRADITIONAL COSTA RICAN GALLO PINTO: Gallo pinto (rice and beans), 2 eggs, Bacon, Plantain, Hand-made tortillas, House made Hotsauce, Sourcream, Fruit Garnish, served with a Passionfruit/Watermelon juice and coffee/tea

2:30 – 4:30 MASSAGE

Thai massage w/ Julie (90min)

Julie’s Thai Massage:  Intro to Thai workshop , 2 hours. Thai Massage is sometimes called lazy man’s yoga, it dates back to 2000 yrs ago. It has its roots in Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. It uses passive stretches and works energy lines and acupressure points. The therapist uses their body weight and body mechanics to give the massage. Which makes it enjoyable for both giver and receiver. It is done on the floor on a mat, with the client fully clothed, making it accessible to give just about anywhere. in this 2 hour workshop you will learn a little history about Thai Massage, how to move in the Thai way. You will learn to give a foot massage using reflexology points that refer to the whole body. You will learn a couple easy stretches to perform on your partner. You will give and receive a short little session to each other, leaving you and your partner completely relaxed and energized.

HOOKED is a big fan of the show DOWN TO EARTH with Zac Efron and Darin Olien as they represent healthy living, recovery, sustainability and fun.  In Episode 3  they visit this Jaguar Rescue Center. https://www.jaguarrescue.foundation/  ENJOY

After our visit at the Jaguar Center we will have a chance to explore local life in the town.  Lunch is on your own today.

3:00 - 4:30 CHOCOSPA

ChocoSpa with Ansel at (90min)

We will be instructed on making masks with cacao and other herbal ingredients, then mask up and feel radiant and relaxed afterward.

After your exhilarating time over the tree tops we allow some down time at the beach... help build a bonfire for the evening activities and just chill.

8:00 - 10:00 JULIE'S WATSU WATER THERAPY

Intro to Watsu 2 hour course. Watsu takes the concepts of shiatsu and brings it to the water. The therapist holds the person in the water as if they were floating, as they are floating and being held the therapist stretches and massages them using the support from the water. It creates a womb like space, and takes the person very fast to that relaxed, dream like state. In this intro course I will teach you the basic Watsu and most important move, the water breath dance, which is the basics of holding someone in the water and matching their breath . I will teach a few basic movements from Watsu so you can see how it feels to give and receive. We will take turns giving and receiving from each other, and just being together in the water.

10:30 – 12:00 PHOTOGRAPHY LESSON

3:00 ARA TOUR - LET'S CHECK OUT THE  MACAW'S

ARA tour is a short jungle hike on a gorgeous ridge-top property where you learn about the plight of the macaw as it approached extinction here in Costa Rica and the efforts of ARA to restore the population of the green macaw here in Puerto Viejo, as well as the red macaw on the pacific side. You will be taken to a viewing platform where you watch and feed the macaws. These stunning birds swoop past your head, and perch in the trees around you. It really feels like they are posing for the camera. You don't have to be a world-class wildlife photographer to get the most stunning pictures. https://aramanzanillo.org/

We placed this tour on the same day as the photography workshop so guests can get some tips on taking photos, as well as making short videos on their phones, and then go up and immediately apply what they've practiced.

Tonight Dinner is on your own as well as your nighttime activity.  We have a driver who can take us wherever we want.  Chances are we have seen something in our previous days exploring that we wanted to check out.  Now is the time.  Koki Beach has lots to offer!  Have Fun

8:30 JUNGLE HIKE

It's going to be roughly 4 hours of exercise, amazing photo opportunities, laughs & memories

He speaks English fluently and knows his plants and animals,  so would highlight the history of the area, the special medicinal plants in the jungle, and point out hard-to-see animals. The hike takes place on the Gandoca-Manzanillo trail, which follows the coast south toward Panama. The end of this trail is Punta Mona where Zac and Darren went to that sustainable living commune. Runners or hiking boots are required.  Also, we recommend guests bring a day pack and a reusable water bottle to reduce waste.

10:00  CARIBEANS CHOCOLATE TOUR 

Ever wonder how chocolate is made?  This Chocolate Forest Experience is the best cacao farm and chocolate factory tour in Puerto Viejo.  They grow our own cacao and make the chocolate right there amongst the cacao trees.  Search the world over, and you will not find a truly tree-to-bar chocolate tour.

Chocolate Tour includes:

Hiking our sustainable cacao forest (some physical exertion over hilly terrain)

Tasting the fruit of the cacao tree from our cacao farm

Tasting the chocolate with amazing ocean views

Seeing the bean-to-bar process at our chocolate workshop

WATERFALLS

Following lunch, we go to see the Bribri waterfall and frolic in the watering pools.  It's a picture-perfect Costa Rica setting that will definitely be worthy of a photo opportunity.  A trail through the jungle leads to the Bribri river and a waterfall/pool where you bask on sun-warmed rocks, and float in the cool mountain water.   Depending on the group's wishes a more challenging route to Volio waterfalls which is a series of waterfalls and pools may be taken

Lots of delicious grilled foods, lots of yummy sides, served ‘viking style’ on a buffet table by the pool. Includes appy trays and desert.

As this is our final night we will end things off with some live music... sharing memories and soaking up the final hours in COSTA RICA

DAY 8

We sadly say good-bye to CASA BELLA.  They will have gift bags for us reflecting our time there so save room in your suitcase! 

 Although we are on our way home, today is exciting as we will be WHITE WATER RAFTING!   En route to the airport we will stop and catch some waves!   With Exploradores Outdoors.
