Day 1: NamibRand Nature Reserve

DAY 1 – Arrival in the NamibRand Nature Reserve

Windhoek - NamibRand Nature Reserve:~250 km (155 miles) 60–75 minutes

Your adventure begins with a charter flight in a light aircraft from Windhoek to the NamibRand Nature Reserve. As you fly south, the deep terracotta dunes of the Namib Desert unfold beneath you, leading you into one of the most pristine wilderness areas in Southern Africa. Upon arrival, you settle into camp and take in the sweeping views of open plains and distant mountains.

In the afternoon, your first taste of the reserve comes with a scenic drive across the iconic red dunes. The light in the late afternoon paints the desert gold as you search for oryx, bat‑eared foxes, black‑backed jackals, and other desert‑adapted wildlife. If you’re feeling adventurous, you may also head out on an exhilarating quad‑biking excursion, weaving over rolling dune crests.

As darkness falls, the desert sky becomes a stage for one of the most brilliant star displays in the world. With virtually no light pollution, the Milky Way shines bright overhead, and you can enjoy this spectacle from the comfort of your lodge’s dedicated stargazing area.

DAY 2 – Sossusvlei & Desert Exploration

Today starts early as you set off on a full‑day excursion to Sossusvlei (additional cost). The journey takes you past towering dune fields, changing with the morning light, until you reach iconic sites like Deadvlei — a white clay pan surrounded by some of the tallest dunes on Earth — and Big Daddy, the legendary dune that rises dramatically above the landscape. After exploring the area, you continue on to Sesriem Canyon, carved over millennia by the Tsauchab River.

Back at camp in the afternoon, a slower pace awaits. You may choose to relax, enjoy the pool, or head out on a guided nature walk to discover smaller desert wonders. Your guide will help you track geckos, beetles, birds, and other creatures perfectly adapted to life in this arid environment. As the daylight fades, the desert quietens again, offering another chance to enjoy the remarkable night sky.

NamibRand - Ongava Private Game Reserve:~500 km (310 miles)90–120 minutes

After breakfast, you take a charter flight in a light aircraft north toward Ongava Private Game Reserve. The change in scenery is striking as the dunes give way to savannahs and mopane woodlands. Upon landing, you settle into camp and take in views over a busy waterhole — a preview of the wildlife encounters that await.

In the afternoon, you head out on a guided game drive on the private reserve. Ongava is famous for its rhino population, and sightings of both black and white rhino are possible. Lions are often seen here too, along with a variety of antelope species, including the endemic black‑faced impala. DAY 4 – Wildlife Watching from the Ongava Hide

This morning, you can enjoy a relaxed start — linger over breakfast, take in the views, or spend time at the pool. Later, you’ll visit the Ongava camp hide, one of the reserve’s highlights. Positioned at ground level beside a frequently visited waterhole, it allows you to observe wildlife quietly and up close.

Elephants, kudu, impala, zebra, and even rhinos often wander in for a drink, offering incredible photographic opportunities. You may spend hours here watching the natural ebb and flow of life in this semi‑arid environment. Day 6: End of Itinerary

DAY 6 – Charter Flight to Windhoek & End of Journey

Ongava Reserve to Windhoek (Return):~400 km (250 miles)60–90 minutes

Your final morning in the wilderness begins with one last look over the Ongava landscape, where the early light settles softly on the plains and the waterhole below may still attract a few lingering animals. After breakfast, you prepare for your departure and make your way to the airstrip for your charter flight in a light aircraft back to Windhoek. The takeoff offers a fitting farewell — lifting gently above Ongava’s rugged hills before the scenery begins to open into the wide, pale spreads of Etosha’s salt pans, and eventually the vast central plateau surrounding the capital.

As you fly south, the changing terrain tells the story of your journey in reverse. Mopane woodlands and savannah slowly fade into the distance, replaced by open plains and rolling ridges as you approach Windhoek. The aerial views are a final reminder of Namibia’s incredible diversity, offering one more chance to appreciate the scale and silence that make this country so remarkable.

Upon landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport, your adventure comes to an end. Depending on your onward travel plans, you may have time to enjoy a meal, browse local crafts, or simply relax before connecting to your international flight. Though the journey concludes here, the impressions remain — from the red dunes of the Namib to the wildlife‑rich plains of Ongava, your time in Namibia leaves you with vivid memories of landscapes, encounters, and moments that stay long after you’ve returned home.
