Day 1: Overnight Travel

Make your own way to Sydney Domestic Airport in time to check in for your Virgin Australia flight to Perth.  On arrival in Perth connect with your South African Airways overnight flight to Johannesburg.

Day 2: Johannesburg

On your early morning arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for early check-in.  The rest of the day is at leisure before meeting for a briefing with your fellow travellers in the evening.

Day 3: Hazyview

This morning we leave for Mpumalanga, dropping several hundred feet into the lush Lowveld.  Travel along the Panorama Route visiting the view sites of the Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, The Three Rondavels and Bourke's Luck Potholes before heading to Hazyview.

Day 4: Hazyview

Today is an early start in order to experience the wonders of exploring Kruger National Park in our closed touring vehicle.  Spend a morning searching for the Big Five in the famous Kruger National Park, which supports the largest variety of wildlife species on the African continent.  Keep a lookout for the wonderful flora and birdlife that abounds.  Return to the hotel for afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: Lobamba

After breakfast, depart for eSwatini (formerly Swaziland).  Proceed south to Malalane and on to eSwatini where you will visit a real Chief's Village and have the fantastic opportunity to gain an authentic knowledge of traditional Swazi culture.

Day 6: Hluhluwe

This morning we journey through Swaziland into Zululand and into the Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal where ancient traditions and modern cultures of both Zulu and Settler have combined , living in peace and harmony.  Arrive in the Umfolozi region for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Durban

Guests have the option to lie in or take an optional morning boat cruise (optional and own account) or simply soak up the atmosphere of this tourist town of St Lucia before heading towards Durban.  An orientation tour introduces us to this vibrant seaside city.

Day 8: Southern Drakensberg

After a leisurely breakfast we head into the majestic Southern Drakensberg Mountains.  Proceed later on to a visit to the 95m high Howick Falls: and then continuing through the Southern Midlands Meander Route, arriving at our hotel with afternoon at leisure.

Day 9: Southern Drakensberg

Day at leisure to soak up the surroundings of the magnificent Southern Drakensberg Mountains.  Today a host of optional leisure activities are available to you.

Day 10: Chintsa

This morning we continue south to the Eastern Cape entering the birthplace of Nelson Mandela (fondly known as Madiba). Enroute we see the old traditional way of life in the homeland area known as the Transkei and stop for lunch outside the capital Umtata.  Continue via Nelson Mandela's birthplace and house, arriving late afternoon at our accommodation in Chintsa East on the beautiful, unspoilt Eastern Cape Coast.

Day 11: Gqeberha

Awake to the sounds of the crashing waves and enjoy the morning at leisure.  The beach stretches on uninterrupted for many kilometres and the indigenous beach forest is a haven for amazing birdlife.  Continue south to Port Elizabeth.

Accommodation:  Garden Court King's Beach or similar including breakfast.

Day 12: Knysna

Journey towards the Cape with a visit to the Tsitsikamma Forest, which provides scenic walking opportunities.  A short walk to the Storms River Mouth offers great views of the gorge and river below.  Arrive in Knysna.

Day 13: Mossel Bay

After breakfast, travel inland over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, known as the 'feather capital of the world' because of its ostrich industry.  Visit a working ostrich farm and then explore the famous Cango Caves with their magnificent dripstone formations of stalactites and stalagmites. Continue to Mossel Bay for a visit of the famous Post Office Tree, the Bartholomeus Diaz Museum and Shell Museum.

Day 14: Cape Town

After breakfast we head for Cape Town via the towns of Swellendam, Robertson and Worcester.  After travelling through the Huguenot Tunnel, the iconic Table Mountain greets us as we arrive in Cape Town in the afternoon.

Day 15: Cape Town

Enjoy a day at leisure in the 'Mother City' with time to explore this beautiful city with its many attractions.

Day 16: Overnight Travel

This morning after breakfast, check out of the hotel by 1100. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure until your transfer to Cape Town International Airport for check-in for your South African Airways  flight to Johannesburg and then overnight to Perth.

Day 17: End of Itinerary

On arrival in Perth proceed through Customs and Immigration before rechecking in for your Virgin Australia flight to your home city.
