Day 5: Clanwilliam

2 nights Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge in Classic Room, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast

Today you head north to the majestic and rugged Cederberg Mountains. famous for their unique rock formations, San rock paintings and spectacular wild flowers in spring.  (2½ to 3 hours drive, 230km)

Day 7: Springbok

1 night Nieuwoudtville in Namaqualand, DBB

Drive north and spend one night at Linda se Dop Guesthouse in the Nieuwoudtville area (recommended during the flower season) or at Daisy Mountain Lodge at Springbok. The route you take will vary by time of year.

Red Carpet Option: We recommend skipping Springbok in order to have two nights at Tutwa Desert Lodge instead.

Day 8: Augrabies Falls National Park

Dundi Lodge, nera Augrabies National Park, B&B

Travel on to spend a night near the Augrabies National Park. “Augrabies” comes from a local korana name “Oukurubi” meaning “place of great noise”. The Orange River thunders through a 19 km gorge and plunges down 200m into a rock enclosed pool below.  (4-5 hours drive)

Day 9: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa)

Twee Rivieren, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

Continue to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park with its excellent game viewing. This park is one of a new breed of transfrontier parks which is shared between South Africa and Botswana.

The exact order of the park accommodation may change, depending on availability and also your preference.

Day 10: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa)

After your morning activity, you are transferred back to your rental car and you continue north to the remote Kalahari Tented Camp or Mata Mata restcamp (Room Only).

Transfer back to the pick-up point and self-drive onto Mata Mata

Day 11: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa)

Enjoy game viewing in the early morning and late afternoon.

Day 12: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa)

!Xaus Lodge, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, 1 night, Full Board & Activities

Continue to Xaus Lodge, a San-community owned cultural lodge in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park . !Xaus means “heart” in the Nama language and was so named by the visiting Bushman in the area.

Game-viewing drive to collection point for transfer into lodge

Day 13: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa)

You are returned to your rental car by late morning and then you continue south, game-viewing en route, for a final overnight stay at Twee Rivieren of Kgalagadi Lodge which is just outside the park gates. 

Day 14: End of Itinerary

You head back to Upington in time for your onward flight, either back to Cape Town or onto Nieuwoudtville.
