Welcome to Madagascar!

We will welcome you at Ivato airport and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will receive a briefing about your stay and can enjoy leisure activities. In case of late arrival, the briefing will take place the following morning before the start of the tour.

You will start your day in Antananarivo by immersing yourself in the history and culture of Madagascar while exploring the Upper Town. Perched on one of the hills of the capital, this historic part offers breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings.

Then you will head to Antsirabe. 

On the way, you will stop at Ambatolampy to visit its famous aluminum smelter. You will discover the fascinating process of making aluminum, a traditional craft passed down from generation to generation.

Upon arrival in Antsirabe, you will be settled at the hotel.

Your day will start with an authentic discovery of Antsirabe by rickshaw. This iconic means of transport invites you to walk the city’s busy streets at a leisurely pace. You can admire the colonial architecture, colorful houses, and the unique atmosphere that makes the charm of this spa town.

After this immersion in the charm of Antsirabe, you will head to Miandrivazo, a picturesque town located on the banks of the river Tsiribihina.

Embark on an epic adventure along the Tsiribihina River, a journey that takes you through the spectacular landscapes and tranquility of Madagascar. Starting from Miandrivazo, this three-day, two-night excursion aboard a traditional barge allows you to experience the natural beauty and daily life along the riverbanks.

Day One: Departure from Miandrivazo

Your journey begins in Miandrivazo, where you board the barge for a peaceful descent down the Tsiribihina. Drifting along the water, you'll pass lush forests, impressive limestone cliffs, and picturesque villages.

Second day: Exploration and relaxation

In the morning, after breakfast by the water's edge, continue your journey down the Tsiribihina River. You will have the opportunity to spot the majestic Za baobabs (Adansonia za), characteristic of this region of Madagascar. These iconic trees stand amidst the picturesque landscapes along the river, adding a touch of mystery and beauty to your trip.

Take time to explore remote villages, meet friendly locals, and discover their traditional way of life during stops along the way. You will also have the chance to swim in the refreshing river waters and relax under the tropical sun.

Along the way, make a stop at the stunning Anosinampela waterfall, where you can refresh yourself and admire the natural beauty of this enchanting spot.

Arrival in Belo sur Tsiribihina

Your river journey comes to an end at Belo sur Tsiribihina, where you will be met by an off-road vehicle ready to take you to Bekopaka, the gateway to the renowned Tsingy de Bemaraha.

Prepare for a fascinating exploration of the Small Tsingy, navigating through this labyrinth of rocky peaks via walkways and narrow paths that immerse you in the heart of this geological marvel. Marvel at the sharp karst formations, observe the endemic flora clinging to the walls, and listen to the whispers of nature in this breathtaking landscape.

After exploring the Small Tsingy, head to the Manambolo Gorges for a traditional pirogue experience. Drift silently on the calm waters of the Manambolo River, surrounded by steep cliffs covered in lush vegetation. Your local guide will enchant you with stories about the history and wildlife of the region as you admire impressive rock formations and perhaps spot bird species and lemurs along the shores.

Welcome to one of Madagascar's most extraordinary natural treasures: the Grand Tsingy of Bemaraha National Park. Today is dedicated to exploring these unique karst landscapes, sculpted over millions of years by erosion and geological formation.

Your day begins early to fully enjoy the morning freshness and discover the vastness of the limestone formations of the Grand Tsingy. An experienced guide will lead you through rocky trails and suspended walkways, navigating a labyrinth of karst formations sculpted into true stone cathedrals.

During your exploration, keep a keen eye out to observe the unique biodiversity thriving in this spectacular landscape. You may spot endemic plant species, agile lemurs moving through the trees, and a variety of colorful birds soaring above the Tsingy peaks.

Each step will reveal new natural wonders: sharp limestone needles reaching towards the sky, mysterious caves carved into the rock, and panoramic views of the surrounding plains. You will also have the opportunity to discover exceptional viewpoints offering impressive perspectives of the park's unique geological formations. Not to mention crossing the suspension bridge, which provides a breathtaking view of the Tsingy and the surroundings, adding an adrenaline rush to your exploration.

After a day of intensive exploration, you will return to your lodging in Bekopaka, where you can unwind and contemplate this memorable experience.

Your day will start early in Bekopaka after exploring the majestic Tsingy de Bemaraha. You will leave this spectacular region to embark on a colorful journey to Morondava, a coastal town famous for its iconic baobabs.

The route will traverse diverse landscapes, navigating unpaved roads—a quintessential Malagasy adventure!

Arriving just in time at the Avenue of the Baobabs, youwill witness the sun setting behind these ancient trees, casting a spectacular canvas of warm hues and towering silhouettes.

After capturing magical moments during sunset, you will proceed onward to Morondava and settle into your hotel.

You are preparing for a scenic trip to Belo sur Mer, a small coastal community where the ocean meets land, offering beautiful seascapes and a peaceful atmosphere.

The drive takes you through coastal roads offering spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and fishing villages. On the way, you can stop to admire the baobabs of Baobab Amoureux, a picturesque site where two large baobabs seem to intertwine. 

On your way to Belo sur mer, you will discover the local salt works. Learn about the fascinating process of salt harvesting, a traditional practice that goes back generations.

Your day begins in the heart of Kirindy Mitea National Park, which is both: Terrestrial National Park, RAMSAR Site and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. A transition between the biodiversity of the West and the South: dense dry forest that occupies 70% of the park, spiny thickets of Didiereaceae and Euphorbiaceae, brackish coastal lake, habitat of many species, birds, reptiles, lemurs. Biodiversity endemic: 97%. 

Your journey will also take you to the vast golden sand dunes that line the park. You can climb the dunes to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, marked by the spectacular meeting between land and sea.

Your day continues with a visit to the impressive baobabs that dot the landscape, some centuries old. These majestic trees, emblematic symbols of Madagascar, offer a striking contrast with the dunes and surrounding vegetation, creating unforgettable photographic scenes.

Exploring the Kirindy Mite National Park, you will not only discover Madagascar’s exceptional natural diversity, but also the local history and culture that permeate every aspect of this unspoilt landscape.

After breakfast, you will leave Belo sur Mer, carrying the memories of its tranquil white sandy beaches and shimmering turquoise waters. Your journey continues towards Morondava, where you will arrive by late morning.

Today, prepare for a day of travel through the diverse and captivating landscapes of Madagascar, from Morondava to Antsirabe. You will begin early in the morning to make the most of the travel time.

You will pass through rural villages where daily life unfolds at the tranquil pace of Malagasy countryside.

Arrival in Antsirabe is expected by late afternoon.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Antananarivo. 

On the way, you can make a few stops to admire the panoramic views or take pictures. 

Upon arrival in Antananarivo, you will be transferred to the hotel. 

In the early evening, you will go to town for a dinner offered at the Café de la Gare.

The day will be organized according to your flight schedule.

If time allows, you will visit craft markets and, if possible, some shops specializing in local products such as vanilla and pepper.

You will be transferred to Ivato Airport for your international flight, with assistance until departure.
