Day 2 to 4: Flight North and the Wilderness of Pafuri

After a relaxing breakfast in Johannesburg, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Polokwane Airport. Upon arrival, you will collect your rental car, marking the official start of your self-drive adventure. The route leads you through the diverse landscapes of the Limpopo province towards the far northern reaches of Kruger National Park. In the afternoon, you will arrive at the exclusive RETURN Africa – Pafuri Luxury Camp, an atmospheric tented camp situated where three ecosystems converge, creating an incredibly rich wildlife habitat.

You will spend three nights here, surrounded by nature in its purest form. During your stay, you can leave your rental car behind and enjoy guided morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles with expert rangers. These excursions offer the chance to observe elephants, buffalo, leopards, and countless bird species in their natural environment. Today, you leave South Africa behind as the next chapter of your safari begins: Botswana! You will drive to the Pont Drift border post, where you’ll leave your rental car in safe parking. Here, a ranger from Koro Island Camp will meet you to provide a transfer in an open safari vehicle into the heart of the spectacular Tuli Block. This private reserve is renowned for its rugged landscapes, vast elephant herds, and an incredibly authentic safari atmosphere.

For the next three nights, you will stay at the exclusive Koro Island Camp, beautifully perched on the banks of the Limpopo River. This intimate camp offers a luxurious yet relaxed ambiance, featuring spacious tents and panoramic wilderness views. During your stay in the Koro concession, you can immerse yourself in various activities:

After a scenic drive toward the northwest, you will arrive at the stylish and intimate Tambuti Lodge. Located within the Black Rhino Game Reserve, this private concession borders the renowned Pilanesberg National Park. You will spend two nights here, immersed in a unique ecosystem formed millions of years ago by a prehistoric volcano.

The Pilanesberg area is a geological treasure: its ring-shaped mountain structure serves as a reminder of its volcanic origins, while the fertile soil supports spectacular biodiversity. During your stay at Tambuti Lodge, you can look forward to:
