Day 1 to 4: Welcome to Vibrant Cape Town – Stay at Cape Diem Lodge

Your journey begins in the heart of South Africa: the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. The next four days are all about comfort, culture, and the iconic skyline of Table Mountain. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a private chauffeur who will take you directly to your accommodation at the charming Cape Diem Lodge. No hassle with rental cars or navigation; your holiday starts the moment you step out of the arrival hall.

From the lodge, the city’s lively streets and attractions are within easy reach. Simon's Town

Day notes

Day 5 & 6: Penguins, Whales, and the Legendary Cape

For the next two days, you will trade the city vibes of Cape Diem Lodge for the serene coastline at Tintswalo Boulders. During these days, you have the luxury of a private guide who is entirely at your disposal to tailor the schedule to your pace.

An incredible activity is on the agenda: whale watching from Simon's Town. Your guide is well-informed about the area and will ensure you don't miss a single spectacular moment. Afterward, the guide will take you to your new accommodation, located within walking distance of the penguin colony.

You will explore the peninsula via one of the most beautiful roads in the world. The route takes you over Chapman's Peak, a 9-kilometer drive with 114 curves that offers breathtaking views after every single turn.

  • Lunch in Scarborough: After driving through Noordhoek and Misty Cliffs, you’ll stop in the eco-friendly village of Scarborough for a fresh lunch at The Village Hub.

  • Cape of Good Hope: This park is an absolute highlight, rich in heritage and nature. Visit the famous sign at the southwesternmost point of Africa and take the Flying Dutchman funicular up to the lighthouse for panoramic ocean views.

  • Boulders Beach: You’ll end the day with the African penguins. Since your accommodation is right next door, there is absolutely no rush; you can admire the penguins at your own leisure.

The following morning starts early with an adventurous kayak trip among the penguins. Seeing these creatures from the water is a truly unique experience. The rest of the day can be planned freely with your guide. We highly recommend visiting the charming village of Kalk Bay for lunch at Harbour House, where the waves practically crash against the windows.

Paternoster

Day notes

Day 7 & 8: The Untouched Beauty of the West Coast

Today, a stunning road trip is on the schedule as you head deeper into the less-traveled West Coast (Weskust) to the picturesque village of Paternoster. This is a place I know inside out, and it is sure to charm you with its white-washed cottages and serene atmosphere.

Are you traveling in August or September? If so, you are in luck! During this time, the entire region is in full bloom; a breathtaking sight of endless flower fields that you won't want to miss. I highly recommend exploring the West Coast National Park with your guide, as the nature here is at its absolute peak during this season.

Keep your eyes peeled as you drive along the R27 past the Buffelsfontein Game & Nature Reserve. This reserve has giraffes that are often visible right from the main road! It’s a unique sight so close to the coast. Throughout your exploration of the West Coast, your guide will be at your disposal to take you to the most beautiful hidden gems.

For an unforgettable evening, I recommend a visit to Wolfgat. This intimate restaurant uses only local and seasonal ingredients sourced directly from the shoreline. In 2019, Wolfgat was named 'World Restaurant of the Year'. It is a truly unique culinary experience, but be sure to book well in advance via their https://www.wolfgat.co.za/.

Day notes

Day 9 to 11: Gourmet Delights at La Cotte Farm

Today, a beautiful road trip to Franschhoek is on the agenda. Along the way, you will cross kilometers of vast farmland, with grazing cows and sheep dotting the landscape. It’s a wonderful way to experience the sheer scale of South Africa and see just how much open space there is. The drive takes about 2.5 hours, so you can take it easy this morning. Your guide will be at your disposal all day.

You will be staying at the stunning La Cotte Farm. This historic farm offers a unique blend of luxury and authentic charm, set right among the vineyards with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

A definite highlight of your stay is the private wine tour with Marinus, our very own wine guide. He will lead you through Franschhoek and its surroundings to discover the finest wine estates and hidden cellars. Whether you prefer to explore by bicycle or comfortably by car: everything is possible. Marinus is always ready to turn every day into an unforgettable adventure!

For an unforgettable gastronomic experience, we highly recommend lunch or dinner at La Petite Colombe. This restaurant is world-renowned for its innovative dishes and refined flavors. Due to its immense popularity, booking well in advance is essential.

Manyoni Private Game Reserve

Day notes

Day 12 to 14: From the Cape to the Heart of Zululand

Today, you’ll trade the Cape mountains for the untamed beauty of KwaZulu-Natal as you take a domestic flight from Cape Town to Durban. Upon arrival at the airport, a private transfer will be waiting to whisk you away to the exclusive Rhino Sands Safari Camp, located within the stunning Manyoni Private Game Reserve.

Rhino Sands is, without a doubt, one of the most stunning safari lodges I have ever visited. I am certain you will enjoy every single second; the combination of luxury tented suites and the sounds of the bush is simply magical. Here, you’ll experience the true African wilderness without sacrificing an ounce of comfort.

Get ready for the real deal! Every morning at sunrise and every afternoon as the sun begins to set, you’ll head out with an experienced ranger in an open safari vehicle. During these game drives in Manyoni, you’ll have the chance to spot the entire Big Five in their natural habitat. Between the drives, the lodge team will pamper you with exquisite meals and refreshing drinks by the campfire.

After one final early morning game drive, it’s unfortunately time to say goodbye to the bush at Rhino Sands. Hopefully, you’ve fully enjoyed your encounters with the Big Five! Now, it’s time for a completely different kind of wilderness: the untouched coastline of Maputaland.
